I suspect the lack of rioting has something to do with the brutally honest statement Jesse Jackson made years ago about living in Chicago and fearing for his life when he encountered young black thugs on the street.

For all their political grandstanding on this story, people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Barack Obama go to great lengths to make sure their kids never meet a quasi-humanoid mutant like Trayvon Martin.

I'm sure every intelligent person (white or black) who knows anything about this story has played out a scenario in their mind about having a chance encounter with a stranger on a dark street one night ... and being totally relieved to learn that it's George Zimmerman instead of Trayvon Martin.

I had that discussion with a black colleague some years ago. Stating, "my elderly mother is walking home from the grocery store late one night. She encounters four young black men headed her way on a dark sidewalk, and she becomes terrified. She has no reason to believe these are young divinity school students on their way Bible studies. None. Whose fault is that?"
