We went to the beach, the bay, the Gulf, lakes and rivers, you would have thought that my parents would be afraid I'd drown. They never attempted to teach me to swim in any of those places but swimming pools were dangerous. LOL!
Did they ever decide how polio was transmitted, I can't remember?
I didn't remember, save for the fact that swimming pools were not the culprit. I looked it up just a minute ago...
How Is Polio Spread?.
During the polio/swimming pool scare, I was taking swimming lessons at the Municipal Pool. Like I told you, I wouldn't put my face in the water, so I didn't learn to swim. I wouldn't back float either (didn't want water in my ears)!
The following summer, when I had the vaccine, I had the same lifeguard for my swimming instructor. He was amazed at how quickly I learned to swim...LOL.
