Newark NJ is trying to sell the idea of a “teachers village” where people (I guess the public employees) that work in Newark can re-colonize it with “legitimate” consumers (I don’t consider public employees legitimate consumers in such a case; they take much more than they’ll ever contribute). As they are having Trayvon demonstrations (blocking traffic intersections) in that area, I don’t imagine they’ll get many takers.
People in the Newark area know there is nothing safer between you and Newark than a fast-moving moat...
I really don’t see what difference having a republican mayor would have made. The white citizens with gumption were already leaving in the fifties. The riots would have happened no matter what the party of the mayor.
