BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. —
A veteran Brevard Countysheriff's deputy is now facing a reprimand for his handling of the George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin controversy.
Corporal Chris Wood told his supervisors he was trying to send a message about keeping professional and personal opinions separate in the workplace when he brought an Arizona ice tea and a bag of Skittles to the Brevard County Jail on Saturday morning.
He told supervisors he was trying to send a message about professionalism, but the message was lost in translation.
In 10 years with the Sheriff's Office, Wood has never had any disciplinary action taken against him until the incident.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Wood made a bad choice and has otherwise been a stellar employee.
Those two items were focal points in the trial of Zimmerman, who was recently acquitted of the murder of 17-year-old Martin.
"His delivery of that message was completely insensitive to not only the people in the room, and the things that were going on in our community, and our society, at that point, and that's what stimulated us looking at it," Ivey said.
Wood is facing a written reprimand. Ivey said he's already met with his supervisors about the props he brought to the jail and apologized to his squad.
"He's going to attend a sensitivity training and we move on," Ivey said.
Ivey said what Wood did reflected poorly on the agency, and said he wants everyone to learn from their mistakes.

Maybe he was called out because it was actually “Watermelon” flavor Arizona beverage that st.tray had. PC world gone nuts. Did the lsm not report the actual flavor because it might have been deemed racist and typecasting. I used to live in Brevard and we just loved the BCSO. Good guys for the most part. But that’s probably typical of most sheriff’s orgs. Always a few over zealous officers. Imagine all the BS they deal with on a daily basis. Easy to become jaded.

After this Wood better never be involved in arresting a black person, or worse, be involved in shooting at or near a black person, he best be looking at a permanent desk job...even there he may be subject to charges of racism.
I can’t think of any job he can get without being subject to racism...maybe handing out towels in gay bath house, maybe.

And like it or not, every defense attorney that ever has to question this guy in cases like that is going to be able to point out he’s a “wink and a nod” kind of guy. What this deputy did was stupid.
He needs to bring some Chik-fil-a for lunch. Let’s get a real riot going.
Next infraction he automtically is sent to a mental health institute in the remote northwestern town of Gulag, Florida for an indeterminate period of time.....where group therapy will teach him that the new world order is mindless and humorless, so he must become both in order to live in peace, love and one-ship with his fellow man.

I’ve been to sensitivity training of various types toward the end of the 20th century. It was all pretty comical. The only thing I learned is that the folks that put those on have found a sweet way to earn a good living off corporate america. And corporate america gets to check a box “complete” that the Fascist government looks at from time to time.
