"We are deeply honored and moved that President Obama took the time to speak publicly and at length about our son, Trayvon. The Presidents comments give us great strength at this time. We are thankful for President Obamas and Michelles prayers, and we ask for your prayers as well as we continue to move forward.
We know that the death of our son Trayvon, the trial and the not guilty verdict have been deeply painful and difficult for many people. We know our family has become a conduit for people to talk about race in America and to try and talk about the difficult issues that we need to bring into the light in order to become a better people.
What touches people is that our son, Trayvon Benjamin Martin, could have been their son. President Obama sees himself in Trayvon and identifies with him. This is a beautiful tribute to our boy.
Trayvons life was cut short, but we hope that his legacy will make our communities a better place for generations to come. We applaud the Presidents call to action to bring communities together to encourage an open and difficult dialogue. Our family is committed to this dialogue through the work of the Trayvon Martin Foundation.
We seek a future when a child can walk down the street and not worry that others see him as dangerous because of the color of his skin or the clothes on his back. We seek a future where our children can grow up and become the people God intended them to be."
Saint Martin of the Purple Drank.
I can summarize their statement in exactly three words: “Gimme, gimme, gimme!”
I keep going back to the fact that TM was shot shortly after 7 pm. Daddy came home around ten. Daddy went to bed. Some time next day, Daddy started looking for his boy.
Model parent right there.

Momma threw Trayvon out of the house and sent him back to Daddy because she couldn’t handle her son after he was suspended from school for three weeks. Daddy took him into the home of the woman Daddy was shacking up with after having recently moved out of his second wife’s home. Daddy and the new squeeze were out on the town leaving the son who had been suspended from school with no adult supervision. The son was out roaming around the neighborhood.
These are considered model parents in the USA today and their son is considered to be an innocent child. Is there any hope for our nation?
One hand shaking another — ain’t that just precious.
Has anyone gathered these Trayvon data points before most were scrubbed? I saw a lot of them, but I’d like to re-read them.
They are all still out there on the internets. When I have the time I will add links to each of the points listed there. Conservativetreehouse.com and wagist.com have a lot of it.
Thanks.
Anyone REALLY believe St. Skittles’ parents wrote this?? I have some ocean front property in North Dakota to sell you.
Whatever God intended Trayvon Martin to be, it obviously was not the path he was following.
Martin's own criminal behavior ended his worthless existence, most likely sparing the lives of his future intended victims.
Actually, he wasn’t a blank slate. We are all born with a sinful nature...Skittles had a terrible upbringing and degenerated into the typical urban punk...which is why he picked a fight with GZ.
I will accept that correction, you are right about that.
However, for the most part, a human child becomes the product of what his parents put into it, and then beyond that the influences of its environment as perceived by the child filtered through the lenses that his parents equipped him with.
That is my non-expert opinion.
What were his parents doing when Trayvon was embarking on his life of crime. So they raised a son who thought it was cool to beat up people. I’m not impressed. My sympathies go out to the victims of crime. They don’t deserve to be victimized.
The only victim in this case is George Zimmerman.
You are correct, sir. Our environment really does a lot to shape us, I agree.
And by the way, do ya HEAR much about that shaping Trayvon got from these two “parents” before his demise?
No? Not from the media? Do ya think that is BY DESIGN? I do. :)
Nothing at all, and yes I do think it is by design.
It is the same disservice that was done to him by those officials who hid or did not address Trayvon’s going off the rails in his life prior to this incident which ended his life.
It is this dishonesty which is truly racism, and it my belief that it originates with white liberals, and it contributed greatly to what happened in his life.
Hiding what he did and lying about what he did leaves the same circumstances undisturbed and ready to entangle the next victim, which will also very likely be a young, black male.
