The productive decided that while the non-productive might win by voting at the ballot box, the productive would win by voting with their feet. Given current tax law and the build up of federal debt, that option may not be available to any but the ultra-rich.

Residents tied all their worldly possessions to their old jalopies and pickups and left for areas where they might be able to get work. These were to poor and lower middle class...saying the residents of Detroit can't do the same is either racist or Marxist. .

MSNBC today had a host say Detroit is 83% africanamerican.
only 700,000 people in detroit at last count. (probably less by now)
I don’t see how the tax base will EVER come back.
Detroit is a lost city.
