The only minority on the all-female jury that voted to acquit George Zimmerman said today that Zimmerman "got away with murder" for killing Trayvon Martin and feels she owes an apology Martin's parents.
"You can't put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty," said the woman who was identified only as Juror B29 during the trial. "But we had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence."
She said the jury was following Florida law and the evidence, she said, did not prove murder.
The court had sealed the jurors' identities during the trial and still hasn't lifted the order, but Juror B29 edged out of the shadows in an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts. She allowed her face to be shown, but -- concerned for her safety -- used only a first name of Maddy.
The nursing assistant and mother of eight children was selected as a juror five months after she had moved to Seminole County, Fla., from Chicago.
All six of the jurors were women and Maddy, 36, who is Puerto Rican, was the only minority to deliberate in the racially charged case. Zimmerman, 29, was a white Hispanic and Martin, 17, was black....

You forgot the gin and vermouth...
I have no problem with jury duty or the rules surrounding it.
I wonder how much government assistance she is getting.
I wonder if SHE reads cursive. Her ‘logic’ is all over the map.
4 grand a month, easy.
Section 8. Food Stamps. WIC. AFDC. ObamaPhone. etc etc.
Probably more than many of us make.
Having been on both sides of the legal system I can not disagree with that!
The behavior of the Prosecution in this case is the same as I have witnessed both coming after me and as a jurist hearing a case.
Someone NEEDS to sit on jury duty that has a brain otherwise as I witnessed first hand, they believe anything a Prosecutor says...trying to justify it with “well, they wouldn’t have prosecuted them if they had done nothing wrong...’. Again as in this Jurist’s mind, facts be damned.
I expected as much ... some folks (even on this forum) are on the lookout for ways to evade jury duty. I occasionally see threads posted on the subject.
Gotta hand it to ABC....as a piece of Agitprop this is extremely well-played.
Black juror (above criticism)
“Got away with murder” (highly passion inflaming)
Black interviewer recovering from cancer who can’t be criticized
IF he got away with murder then the jury is at fault since ALL the evidence was there. Obviously, the jurist did not think he committed murder. I believe this is being said to thwart attention away from the jury.
I’m with you. Can’t think of anything socially acceptable to describe my reaction to “Maddy”’s statements. Surely nobody could be that stupid. Could she be terrified? If so, who’s doing it? Let’s get some names and zap them legally like Zimmerman’s attorneys are going after the Prosecutor in that case.
I would actually enjoy the prospect of being on a jury. There are reasonable exceptions that will remove a person from jury duty, and I support those....illnesses, financial issues, plans, etc.
But a blanket refusal to serve is something I don’t really understand.
Now she’s african American(that’s my new thing. If Zimm is a white Hispanic with the first part being lower cased then all hyphenated Americans are the smaller part first)
Anyway, could have sworn I read she was Puerto Rican...and yes, I can see the leap...
The very scary thing is many people believe what they felt happened should have trumped evidence. They do not believe in “Innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.” They believe the Constitutional protections offered to those accused and on trial hinder justice rather than protect persons from the tyranny of despots or the mob.
This is the natural outcome of elevating the State to their god.
She voted to a acquit, then when polled confirmed her vote. But now she says different? She must be getting grief from the Undead.
Yeah, the evidence. It's a pesky thing.
Just ask Dan Rather.
.
She wants to make money, but doesn’t want to face death threats if she makes herself public.
I agree, jury duty is a DUTY.
Unfortunately, there’s no way that I’d ever make it onto a jury. I have a strong background in analysis and engineering (software). One side or the other (whichever one was planning on making an emotional appeal) would strike me almost immediately during selection.
Sounds like a real twit. Imagine if his jury had 6 of these.
8 kids huh? WOnder how many daddies?
