There has long been an argument as to whether the two note figurations in the scherzo are a tie with awkward fingering, or a slur where both notes are to be sounded. This video uses the slur, and it works better than the tie. Beethoven ends the movement in a sneaky fashion.
The middle portion has an ostinato B-A-B-A in triple time, and its a forerunner of John Williams Jaws theme, except that Williams executed it in duple time.
