Wonder what color the man was?
Read the post again, the point wasn’t about asking you that, it was inquiring about your awareness.
Here is the major point—”While you are pulling an 8 hour shift, some guys are living there full time, year after year, after year, after year.”
I read it the first time. I read it the second time. Not sure what your point is.
the problem with pepper spray on old people is if he had a bad ticker or lung problems, it would be like smothering them.
Its a lose/lose for cops.....
Your post 56 about how you could not comprehend how a man could get a butcher knife in a nursing home.
I was trying to explain that, I think that it would be pretty easy to get hold of a knife in a nursing home.
I hope the police didn’t shoot him after he was already dead.
Have you ever run up against a old person with dementia? They don’t feel pain and seem to have developed strength that you wouldn’t believe.
Beanbag and taser seems a tad excessive. but anyone with a knife is not to be laughed at.
If he got it from the kitchen, I hope the family sues. I am telling you, there is no way a resident would get a butcher knife from our kitchen. I think the nursing home is liable.
Cops just having target practice.
No, the article says he had a 12-inch butcher knife.
People have died from pepper spray. How do you know what amount of tranquilizer to use on a berserk 95-year-old?
At that age, there are a lot of things that can kill a person.
I was thinking about throwing a net over him. But then he stumbles, falls, and cracks his skull on the floor.
The headline is a lie, as are most, since it doesn’t mention the “12 inch butcher knife.”
Ain't that the truth! When I was in a rehab nursing home for my broken hip (the longest 8 days of my life) I was paired with a dementia patient. She was a sweet, confused little old lady until one night she went absolutely nuts!! The female CNA was struggling to get her back to bed, I was on the phone with my hubby and he thought I was watching an episode of "Cops". What was interesting was the minute the male CNA came in to help his co-worker, the woman immediately switched back to sweet, confused little old lady mode.
I have been around chemical aerosol restraints for over 25 years. I have been exposed to CS, CN, pepper, and other forms of chemical restraints. I have witnessed and treated the results of baton use vs high velocity bean bags vs taser (wired and close contact)vs chemical restraint. In my experience the method that caused the least amount of medical complications for all involved was chemical restraint which is why this method is usually the first ‘force’ used for crowd control.
He fought them to the day he died.
No need, apparently.
Tasers aren’t adjustable by the user, although the new X2 model monitors the circuit (through the target) and modulates the output. I have only seen one policeman with a new X2.
In the words of a still-living great philosopher, "What does it matter now?"
Well.... Bill Ayers has been telling them if they can kill 25 million people off, then everyone else can live like KINGS.
Everyone seems to think this guy died as a result of the tasering and the bean bag trauma, but it just as likely could have been an adverse drug interaction when he was sedated at the hospital.
The whole episode could have been caused by an adverse drug reaction or interaction.
