I want to concur with you, Bullish, but what's too low or too stinky or too obnoxious for the Democratic [sic] party? In a sensible, decent society, Snopes Clinton would have resigned in disgrace as Nixon belatedly did; instead of doing any such thing, however, he clung to power, called in favors and twisted arms and probably blackmailed his way into a pass, and trusted, realistically, as matters have developed, all would be forgiven in due time. Clinton kicked the bottom out of the bottom of the barrel.

Again, I want to agree. Your estimation of him as "a creepy little perverted weasel" is an insult to weasels and an under-estimation of Weiner's nastiness—but that was before the entire idea of moral standards for political office holers was tossed into the nearest waste basket. The old standards are gone. There are no surviving standards. The founding fathers' assumptions of civic duty, civic decency, civic honor, and the like have been shunted aside in favor of all-devouring civic cynicism. The race is on to see who—or what, as the case may be—can outrage the nation with still worse behavior.
Think of a class room of nine-year-old kids with an elderly substitute teacher for the day. How long does it take the first boy to cut loose with high jinks? How long does it take the second to one-up the first? How long before pandemonium erupts, and even the best behaved girls start getting in on the act?
If America were still politically sane and sensible—if we still had anything like adult supervision and the rule of law to guide our way—Weiner would have been laughed and positively jeered out of Congress with no chance of so-called "redemption" nor any possibility anyone would accept his gibberish about "public service" as aught but a ludicrous, stupid, sub-contemptible stunt. As matters stand, I believe he actually does embody the Democratic [sic] party's highest principles and ideals. That party's first and foremost principle is "What can we get away with next?"
Here's my prediction: whatever they get away with next will prove even worse than the behavior we find loathsome—at the very least—today. I have to figure if New York voters reject the exhibitionist cockroach, the communist lesbian will immediately seem positively normal. It'll probably be up to Spitzer to seize the Democratic [sic] party banner and hold it high.
Some day, everything about today's Democratic [sic] party will seem as despicable and incomprehensible as Jim Crow laws and George Wallace's defense of segregation seem to us today.
