John Wiley Price. He certainly brings back memories. It’s one of the few things I missed about Texas. You always had to wipe off a layer of saliva that flew out of his mouth when he was ranting and raving. Loved it when he and Dallas County Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, a Republican, would argue. There were some real barn stormers in those days. How are the Dallas County Commissioners’ Courts meetings nowadays? After Mayfield departed, it just wasn’t so exciting to attend anymore.
So, a comment from one Freeper caused you to go full bore jihad on the whole dang forum? Sure, why not.
Doesn't make a lick of sense to me. No sale.
I wanted to check into Abbotts political history last evening, and to my surprise, he really has enjoyed an Annointed One status in the Texas GOP.
Let me get this straight. You only started checking into Abbott's political bona fides LAST NIGHT??
Excuse me, but haven't you been trashing the crap out of him on Free Republic for weeks now? Mighty big of you to try and get to know the man after walking all over him.
Just found a FReeper post on John Wiley Price: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2891266/posts
Must admit, Price is a thug, but it was entertainment to hear him talk about “black holes” and telling “white people, go to hell.” It’s like watching a Chicago gangster seize the levers of power in the Big D. Then he would get into his rainbow spandex shorts, bring along his protestors and slow walk in front of the Dallas police precincts. One time, I was in a hurry and nearly crashed my car into him on Northwest Hwy. Man that would have cause some serious race riots in South Dallas. I’m glad I dodged that bullet.
I wouldn't know. I'm too busy humping my butt to earn an honest living to attend Democrat round tables.
Maybe if I blogged for money, I could justify spending my days being spit on by the likes of John Wiley Price, but I'm just a tax paying business owner.
Too bad you missed.
Some months back, I saw the ignorant buffoon broken down on the shoulder of the southbound 12 (freeway).
Made my day.
Well, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. If you will complain at me for so-called personal attacks against Abbott, then it’s only fair to avoid personal attacks against Pauken. If you really think about it, look at some of the stuff you see written about Democrats and RINOs’ on Free Republic. Some might deem those as personal attacks against those folks, including my comments about Lindsey Graham and John McCain. However, when I meet people in China and they look at Free Republic they say their favorite thing is to read those comments. It’s how I got hooked on Free Republic a few years ago. However, I was foolish enough to fall for the Romney Kool-Aid on Free Republic too. I actually believed Romney was going to defeat Obama in the election and kept telling the naysayers to read Free Republic. Wow, I got that one wrong big time, but I was impressed, you folks picked yourselves up and went ahead to continue attacking the Democrats and Obama. I said to myself if they can recover from the drama, so should I.
My salary was low, but I look back and that was some of my fondest memories when I was a reporter. Tuesday was my favorite day of the week.
It's perhaps instructive that John Wiley Price was vastly more successful in his job than was Barack Obama.
Is JWP still driving his ‘Our Man Downtown’ SUV, with his face paineted on both sides of the car? One time he was talking about forcing County constables and deputies to drive Ford Fiestas for patrol cars, to reduce caron emmissions and upgrade its mpg, and I asked him, if he was going to sell his SUV and buy a Ford Fiesta campaign car to show his solidarity to Mother Earth? A week later, the Ford Fiesta proposal was mysteriously cancelled for a vote.
Yup. That's how I knew it was him. That man is such a freaking clown act.
Observations about a candidate's character aren't outside the bounds of civil discussion (or even argument) but it's a quick hop from there, to unhinged ad hominem attack, which is what I got out of your flaming posts about Abbott.
This is especially the case when such attacks aren't accompanied by any reasoned analysis of the candidate's positions, acts while in office, documented interpersonal dealings with others, votes, etc.
It's all too easy to come out swinging below the belt, but around here that just sounds like moonbat barking.
That’s hilarious. He even put speakers attached to the outside, so you can hear his recorded speeches. One time after a Commissioners’ Court meeting he rushed out to drive some where, I was right behind him on a red light and I thought I was hearing JWP talking. I open the car window and the speakers are blaring JWP’s ‘Our Man Downtown’ campaign speech. He even had a JWP bobble head doll posted on his dash board.
That's a scary thought. Obama's lowered the bar so far, that someone like JWP might actually win statewide office .. yikes!
That really is scary
Unbelievable. Pure ghetto showman. That guy has pimped the hell out of his constituents.
You got a point there, so I spent some time researching Abbott last night. I mentioned to you in a prior post about his “Anointed One” status as a Texas GOP elected official and his performance on WFAA. I think this line of reasoning sounds better than prior attacks, which apparently resembled the arguments of Leftist Websites. Thanks for bringing that error to my attention. But I did see a good line by a commenter on the Dallas Morning News last night, “I wake up, go to the office, sue the federal government, lose again and go home.” As a conservative, I’m noticing some fundamental flaws with his call for increased government spending on roads, water and education, while promising lower taxes too. I probably should have paid more attention to these contradictions on gov’t spending/taxes instead of the lawsuit argument attack, which falls on deaf for conservatives. Moderates and fiscal conservative would be more woried about the lawsuits, but not FReepers.
My money is still on an old fashioned high voltage troll fry. All the common indicators are present. It’s just a matter of time.
Tex Grill troll just lied again about Abbott. In my opinion, intentionally lying deserves a ZOT. How many times does one get to lie before a ZOT? Abbott actually said, “Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott told delegates at the state GOP convention on Thursday his job is pretty simple. I go the office. I sue the federal government. Then I go home. So, Tex troll lied when he quoted Abbott as saying, I wake up, go to the office, sue the federal government, lose again and go home.
Tex troll does not have the truth in him and I will point out every lie from now on.
The truth about Paukin is this: My husband was a Republican County Chairman during Paukin’s term as chairman of the state party. My husband called Paukin and asked him to speak to Governor George Bush about a certain matter. Paukin said these exact words because I've never forgotten them: “You will have to call him yourself. He won't take my calls.” So, my chairman husband called Gov. Bush himself about that matter - Bush would talk to him. Paukin was a disaster as state chair - he couldn't even talk to the governor. If the state chairman can't speak to the governor of the same party, that chairman is useless. A state chairman also has a responsibility to bring in donations to the party - Paukin didn't do well, either.
We had a great woman chairman after Pauken resigned (didn't finish out his term), Susan Weddington, and donations rolled in. She could actually call the governor and he would take her calls. David Barton was our Vice-Chair with her and I think the two of them were the best we've ever had. I should add here that my best friend is now the Vice-Chair of our state party and she is superior.
Here is the history of the Republican Party in Texas during those years, taken from our state website. Note Paukin’s name does not appear in the history during the years he was chairman. It skips him and goes to Susan Weddington who pulled the party back together after Paukin.
“In 1994, George W. Bush would become only the second Republican Governor since Reconstruction in his landslide victory against popular Democrat incumbent Ann Richards. Rick Perry and Kay Hutchison would hold onto their statewide posts, while Austins first female mayor, Carole Keeton Strayhorn, would become the first woman elected to the Texas Railroad Commission. Republicans that year also saw a three-seat increase in the Texas House, and gained another seat in the Texas Senate.
Two years later, Republicans would gain an additional three seats in the Texas Senate, giving the GOP a majority in the body for the first time since Reconstruction. Seven new Republican legislators would also be sent to Austin in 1996, and voters would return Phil Gramm to the US Senate and John Cornyn to the Texas Supreme Court.
In 1997, Susan Weddington became the first woman to chair a major state party in Texas. She and Vice Chairman David Barton were reelected in 1998, 2000, and 2002, and together they united the grassroots and kept all members of our party marching in the same direction.”
I just listened to that news interview Paukin gave. He said the state party is split between economic and social Republicans and he could bring them together. That is comical since the split was the greatest when he was chairman. My husband and I were at every state convention during his tenure, and, in my opinion, the split was magnified due to Paukin. It's a party of love now compared to when he was chairman.
Paukin also says he isn't ruling out an increase in the state sales tax to lower property tax. That is a ruse to raise the sales tax and nothing happens to lower property tax. Property tax rates are set by the county in which you live. Do you see your county lowering their property tax because Paukin raises the sales tax? Hell, no.
