“HD antenna” is a marketing term. The signals are still broadcast over VHF or UHF, so any good antenna that picks up those bands will work.

If the frequency is the same, the antenna used will have the same optimal design. Very true. I have no idea if the new TV frequencies are the same, but UHF and VHF do require different designs for best reception, so I hope it’s not still both.
