When asked which political label fit him best, Sowell said libertarian, not conservative.
He also said that ‘conservative means wanting to conserve stuff just for the sake of conserving it’, and said that he disagrees with libertarians on core principles.
Calling him a libertarian when he explicitly says that he disagrees with core principles is disingenuous.
Conservativism has never meant ‘to preserve something just because it’s there’. That’s a terrible definition of conservativism.
As is, Sowell supports traditional marriage and prolife issues. He does not support the libertarian view on both of these.
