The staff is supposedly gets low pay. They actually had the nerve to say that.
It sounds to me like Grassley got that in knowing all they had to do was get the taxpayers to keep paying the subsidies.
As for the authority, he doesn’t have the authority. I don’t have the authority to rob a bank but I can do it if nobody objects.
Lots of folks get low pay. And they’re not getting the taxpayer to foot the bill. As someone that worked in Baghdad, doing security for Congress when they visited, the behavior that these staffers displayed was sickening. I’m not talking about being drunken fools, that was the Congressman.
I’ve yet to encounter a group of people that kissed more ass and were treated like doormats in my life. It makes me wonder when I read bio’s of some of these guys where they state that they were interns/staffers when they were kids.
