I quit a six figure job to stay home with my kids.
They’re more important than a particular lifestyle

Well, good for you. There will be a special place in heaven for you. You were a good mother and I'm sure that your children know and appreciate it.

I really don’t care if they know or appreciate it.

It wasn’t a question of a trade off.

Money isn’t all that. That’s the one lesson I DO hope they learn.

Here's my take:

Having your first child is hard because you don't know what to do.

The second child seems perfect especially if you have a boy and a girl.

With the third baby it begins to feel like a real family.

With the fourth it is just one more.

We had four which is nothing because my mom had ten.

A well-trained group of kids make for nice full get togethers later on.

Why begin berating them at 3? There are people who berate them already for even having a child. I mean if you’re going to get on people for having kids why not start at 1?

I.e., the people who complain are part of the problem. They will always complain about the solution.

I like the names!!! Hope they stay along those types of “normal names.” Grandbaby in CO is now 13 mos old (did that go fast or what?) and she is in a “play group” w/3 other little girls. Just like my granddaughter ALL have “special snowflake” names (unique one of a kind monikers complete w/specialized spelling).

I’m so thrilled for you and Mr S!

“If present trends continue, whites will be a minority in the U.S. in thirty years. As for England, if present trends continue, whites will be a minority in 2066.”

I know the media puts these dates out there (I believe to prevent a panic/reaction), but we would do well to learn from black AMerica: they were told Hispanics would pass them by 2010, then after the 2000 census we were told it already happened. If I believe my lying eyes, whites will be a minority in this country by 2020 AT THE LATEST. I’m not talking about black boogeymen (the black birthrate has fallen drastically since welfare reform); I’m talking about Hispanics and Asians.

Our first child was born years ago, and even then the baby ratio in the maternity ward (in a “white” hospital in NJ) was 2 white babies, 2 black babies, 15 Hispanic babies, and one Asian baby (the Asians make up the numbers with fresh daily imports). If Obama’s win in 2008 wasn’t a wake-up call (things were bad enough for desperate people to try anything), then what was 2012? The country had been fundamentally changed demographically, and the coalition of non-whites voted themselves a share of whites’ income without hesitation.

Wonderful names. Arthur, the knight in shining armor and Sweet Caroline. A legend and a song, both fitting for grandchildren!

I don’t know what your problem is, but you evidently have one, considering you were the female FReeper to whom I was referring. You are the one that made the statement about American women being too selfish to stay home with the children You really should show a bit more respect for the female FReepers, who are American women, who do stay home with the children as there are obviously far more of us than there are those with an attitude such as yours.

I call'em like I see'em. And if you don't like it...too bad. Get over yourself.

It’s really difficult to pigeonhole half the population, isn’t it? There are American women who DO stay home and raise their children, some take care of the children of women who work outside the home. There are American women who are career-focused who don’t want to stay home with their children and those who forsake altogether having children of their own. There are women who have to work to supplement their husband’s income, and others who are the primary breadwinner. The variables just go on and on.

Alas, since the “Great Society” is seems the option of staying home has declined dramatically and dangerously.

Alas, since the “Great Society” is seems the option of staying home has declined dramatically and dangerously.

I've said enough about married women.
The entire situation of high divorce rates in American make life a losing proposition for too many children. I don't blame either gender for divorce but it's always horrible for the children. I often wonder if the working wife and abandoned children (abandoned to nannies, daycare and after-school programs) have anything to the high divorce rate. The intact family seems like a distant past dream.

As for pigeonholing half the population, well each gender does it to the other. "Men always...." "Women always..." The young do it about the old and vice versa. Different races/cultures do it to each other. People from different faiths do it. The haves and have-nots do it to each other. What group of people DON'T pigeonhole other groups?

I live in a city where costs are high and many women have to work so that the two can live here. Sending children to private schools, buying a house, taxes....keeping up with the Joneses, and such put lots of pressure on women to add their wages to the husbands. They make their own destinies.

It's my read that most couples have to decide what is important in their lives. When they decide that God is first then priorities fall into place. It really is that simple. Life is SO very, very short, it's really not smart to go for the gold, so to speak, and to walk the path that we ought. Children need. Some parent should be home. It's just plain wrong....well, you get my drift.

Until we change the attitude of White Feminists, White Men are simply not going to reproduce with them.
