The Indian AC on your table is different from the one mentioned in the article. The one on the table is an ex-British AC acquired by India few decades ago.

China better start building, or buying some flat tops. They have some small ones they use as attractions—they could fix them up? Maybe buy some old ones from the US we have ready to scrap?

Huh — the name is the same but Google is not always our friend.

But I want style points for the side-by-side table... (I can redo it if i can find the right one)

;)

Yes, Obama doesn’t understand what the role of the Navy is.

Sure he does. They're there to fly his puppy dog to Martha's Vinyard.

No problem.

The confusion is from the media speculation about the name of the ship. It’s not got an official name yet, as far as I’m aware.

It makes India only the fifth country after the US, Russia, Britain and France to have such capabilities,

doesn't Italy have a carrier? Maybe Brazil? lol

I think it’s referring to indigenous carrier construction capabilities.

I suppose. I suppose if you had even a modicum of shipbuilding industry you take put a flat top on a cruiser and launch helicopters and Harriers. Might not be able to carry many of them though.

No reason a 2nd world country with some shipbuilding ability couldn't do something like this nowa days.

This carrier is designed to carry about 30 Mig 29Ks or
Sukhoi-30 MKIs.

True. But I was saying that a lot more countries could build a helo/harrier carrier if they wanted to

Carriers don’t have to be huge and carry a lot of aircraft of course. Especially for a small country.

Actually, more than the capabilities of the carrier, true power projection capabilities must take into account how a country will defend the carrier in the ocean. India has been actively working on supersonic cruise missiles partly for their “carrier-killing” potential.

Many fail to understand Obama’s lack of military intellect will result in a much more dangerous international situation in about 5-15 years. His lack of understanding of military power associated with foreign diplomacy, but confusion with direct action has consequences in multiple foreign powers now seeking their own independent use of naval air power.

30 years ago we had an international community formed into a coalition. Such coalitions though depend upon the integrity of their respective international leaders, centralized command and decentralized control to perform their missions efficiently. This was lost early in this Administration and immediately recognized by foreign powers.

This Administration has likely done far more damage to both the national and international security of freedom than any other Administration on record.

Not even that. Much easier to just convert a container ship. The Brits went halfway with the Atlantic Conveyor during the Falklands, but she was never intended to be anything other than an aviation transport (rather than an operational carrier).

But this idea was floating around as a result:

Italy still has a carrier which it built itselfs. The Indian carrier is actually an enlarged Cavour

Although I suspect the Indian ship's hanger will be closer to Charlie Big Nose's 4200m2 than the simarly sized Vikramaditya 3000m2
