Carolina conservatives want more opposition in DC

LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) — Republican Patrick McHenry's loudest constituents have no desire to see conciliation on gridlocked Capitol Hill, unless it comes from President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats.

When constituents pressed him on health care, McHenry noted he voted against the law. But he also tried to convince the most vocal critics of it that shutting down government won't satisfy their concerns.

They’re giving him a message and I hope he gets it, but it looks like he has drunk the Washington Koolaid and will need to be replaced next time around.

He’s an incumbent, a five termer. He likes first class, perks, and personal wealth accumulation. The general good is not his prime directive. Conservatives are rocking the boat.

McHenry reminded Gaskill that he voted to hold the attorney general in contempt of Congress.

So what have you done about it since, Pat?
