Base your opinion on fact and law.

The point is that the statute Ray cited shows Cruz is a Citizen and not a natural born Citizen.

The Law is no longer relevant. The fact is that Cruz was born a Citizen of the United States. The Constitution has essentially lost its meaning and is currently a dead letter. Of all the potential candidates out there right now Ted Cruz is the only one I believe can begin the process of resuscitating the Constitution.

So frankly I don’t give a damn whether or not you or anyone else belives that he is ineligible. In my book he is now and always has been a Natural Born Citizen of the United States.

Nobody is going to seriously challenge his eligibility. That is reality.

So, if he runs and gets the nomination are you going to sit out the election because you are more principled than me?

Are you going to sit out the election if Cruz gets the nomination?

Cruz is a citizen by operation of law.

The law is relevant and the Constitution is not a “dead letter”.

Buck up.

What it means is that I am more than satisfied that Ted Cruz is a Natural Born citizen and that if he is determined to be ineligible after he is elected, then Vice President Sarah Palin can take over the reins and appoint Ted Cruz to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The way I see it, Cruz was automatically a citizen when he was born. That was the law. Therefore, the law says he's eligible to be president.

Any high-falutin' discussion of the original meaning of "natural born citizen" is irrelevant in the face of Art I, Sect 8, end of the section that reads: "To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof."

To decide who needed to be naturalized, the Congress had to decide who was automatically a citizen and without need of being naturalized.

According to the law, Cruz was born without any need to be naturalized.

Cruz is a citizen by operation of law.

That's simply not so. Those in need of naturalization are citizens by operation of law.

Cruz is a citizen by the definition of the law.

Cruz is a member of a class of persons collectively naturalized.

To decide who needed to be naturalized, the Congress had to decide who was automatically a citizen and without need of being naturalized.

Congressional power regarding citizenship extends to naturalization.

Absent law Cruz is not a citizen.

Nope. It extends to anything touching any power that Congress decides is necessary. Art I, Sect 8.

The decided it was necessary to define those cases that automatically possessed citizenship.

I will not help a ineligible nominee violate Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution.

OK you keep telling yourself that, twitch your nose, cross your eyes, and maybe it will come true.

Reality is the law says that Cruz is a "citizen". The law does not say that Cruz is a "natural born citizen".

If you don't like that then you can climb aboard your time-machine and have the law re-written as you see fit. Go ahead - I'll wait. Huh? What's that? You don't have a time-machine? Bummer for you.

If a law is never enforced it becomes a dead letter. Find me someone who would remove a president from office because he thought he was ineligible under the Natural Born Citizen clause.

If it ain’t gonna be enforced then any statute you can point to is irrelevant.

Welcome to reality.

When Cruz gets the nomination are you going to vote for Hillary?

Rather than emotion and desired political outcome, base your opinion on fact:

Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, December 22, 1970, to a US citizen mother and a Cuban citizen father.

And law:

Relevant law in December 1970 is Pub. L. 82-414 § 301(a)(7) (66 Stat. 163, 236)

I don’t need a time machine. Cruz was an automatic citizen at birth.

When there is no legal challenge to his candidacy, then we’ll know his candidacy is not illegal. And then you can say to me: “You were right.” I’ve been around FR for about 15 years now. Lord willing, I’ll still be here in 2015.

The FACT is that no one is going to successfully challenge the eligibility of Ted Cruz to be president.

With that fact in mind noob, if Cruz gets the nomination, are you going to vote for him?

If Cruz shows integrity in how he handles this his stature will only increase. He could become a fine Supreme Court justice, or continue as an outstanding Senator. If he tries to claim that a naturalized citizen is a “natural born citizen” then he’s wholly unfit for any office.

Cruz can use the situation to open the door to discussing eligibility in general and Obama in particular. He is uniquely positioned at this crucial moment in history. What comes out of that forge remains to be seen. He could be a towering figure in US history. He could be slag. History will pivot on how will he handles this test.

"""""he announces that after having thoroughly researched the matter, he is ineligible due to his father having been a foreigner """""

Wishful thinking but unfortunately, I don't think this will happen. Why will Cruz not announce it NOW while the usurper is still in office?

I think our side is way too careful. All the the evil doers need to do is to counter our baby steps while they run out the clock. IMHO we need to be much more bold and stop operating out of fear.
