This sad incident in Oklahoma should remind the nation of the need for more homes to benefit from the presence of mentors who can provide guidance to a generation of young people for whom such models are painfully absent.

Uh, how about fathers? Maybe more homes could benefit from the presence of fathers who can provide guidance to a generation of young people for whom such fathers are painfully absent. I like how the writer equates raising children to a voluntary position. It is, I suppose. But it should not be.

If they had fathers in the home, they couldn’t qualify for nearly as much welfare and other handouts.

That single issue is one of the main reasons for the violence in the country today. Welfare from the federal government. Hooray for Johnson’s Great Society.
