Steven Salaita, an associate professor of English at Virginia Tech, argues in a column posted this morning at Salon.com that Americans should stop saying "support the troops," calling it "trite and tiresome." He argues that patriotism and voicing support for the troops is merely a cover for American "imperialism" and likens American soldiers to murderers and ignorant individuals who "act like an Adam Sandler character."

No, thanks: Stop saying support the troops
And here is Virginia Tech's contact info:
Hope n change,then?
Lord, how I LOATHE the left and absolutely everything they stand for.
He’s obviously not from around here.
A quick google check on the salaita name reveals lots of Muslim related names ect. Steven Salaita himself describes himself as a writer on Muslim Arab culture. Tells ya all you need to know about this man’s motivations!
“And here is Virginia Tech’s contact info:”
Eh. They don’t care what a knuckle dragger from flyover country like me has to say. Privately, they agree with Salaita. The only thing they will understand is their enrollment numbers. If that drops, they will take notice.
So when islamofascists label him an infidel and demand his head, well, he asked for it.
That’s why liberalism is a slow self-inflicted death.
November 2 @Boston College. Guess what my sign will say?
An enterprising person should mock the “I’m Ready for Hillary” bumper stickers by adding “to go to prison.”
Why are parents paying outrageous prices to have anti-American professors indoctrinate their children? Every one of these malcontents should be deported to their family’s country of origin if they can’t be happy living with Americans.
Just what does the professor profess? Is not a professor a true believer of some agenda?
I really can't "support the troops" unless I support the fight. Do I care about them? Of course. Do I hate that they're being used for wars of aggression? Of course. Do I want them to come home safely, to defend our own borders? Absolutely. Do I want the medical and psychological needs veterans have being priority number one for the US? Without a doubt.
Support the troops is just not the correct phrase for where I'm at.
I loathe every one of them, from their faux "president" on down to the last lo-info voter who put that slime in office... and every communist professor in between.
While we’re at the “stop saying” stage, let’s look into the fact that “Professor of English” is a prime example of word conflict.
It is a given that the coefficient of cretinosity (copyright pending) of the idiots currently serving tenure as “Professors of English” is rapidly approaching 1.0.
Those of us who have held the title of “Professor” in departments having real academic standards (sciences, engineering, mathematics) are insulted by having to share this title with those who have little or no intellect.
Please change the title to something more fitting with their lack of standards, and morality.
Perhaps “senator” might fit.
Oh, and “Private First Class” outranks ANY professor of English.
Go Hokies!?? :^)
Most conservatives support the troops. Indeed, they support the government that commands the troops.
Personally, I do my best to encourage my young acquaintances to avoid the military while Obama and the predominantly socialist, statist political class are calling the shots. I do my best not to support the latter financially, too.
Much more to the point for this lib obamaumao supporter to say— START saying “Quit Wasting our Troops Lives” by an administration that is partnering with the very people who attacked us= al-qaeda.
The same group of ruling class elitists/islamofascists who are pushing islam into every region of our Republic, and co-opting our fighting forces in so doing and eroding their loyalties and beliefs.
But no, he won’t say that—because he is ONE of them.
Your opposition to the expression is humane & benign.
The muzzie prof hates our troops & wants them to die. He is a Hasan soul mate. Hope he soon feels eyes on the back of his neck.
The VT shooter was an English major.
Just sayin’.
