President Obama signaled in an exclusive interview with radio hosts Tom Joyner and Sybil Wilkes that Martin Luther King Jr. would have liked his health care plan for Americans.
Obama spoke to the pair in the Oval Office to recognize the 50th anniversary of King’s March on Washington.
“What do you think he’d say about Obamacare?” asked Joyner, when discussing King’s legacy.
“Oh he’d like that,” Obama asserted. “Well, because he understood that health care, health security is not a privilege, it’s something in a county as wealthy as ours, everybody should have access to.”

How quickly everyone has forgotten the inconvenient fact that southern Democrats were the worst enemy of the civil rights movement, and that northern Republicans were the champion of the legislation that MLK Jr. fought so hard for.
Things went to hell thereafter with the “(not so) Great Society” and the start of entitlement culture under LBJ, but as a Republican (in name only, nowadays), I feel nothing but pride in the GOPs role in creating a better nation with liberty and justice for all.

I’m sure he would have liked it. He said that Communism was a judgement against us for our failure to make democracy real by removing poverty and injustice.
