Like Michelle, I am an Oberlin graduate. And while the college has some admirable traits--a very fine College Library, with historical tracts that helped wake me up to the evils of some of Oberlin's 19th Century antics--it has been blighted since its earliest days with enthusiasts devoted to changing other people's cultures. (For one example, the Anti-Saloon League, which played a major part in putting Prohibition over on America, was founded in the Oberlin College Library in the 1890s.)
Thanks to Oberlin, I learned while still in my teens, that modern American pseudo-liberalism is an airborne bit of never grounded fluff--a cloudborne wish list of how the "true believer" believes that others should be forced to live. The arrogant contempt that I sometimes show towards Leftwing thought on the internet, was learned at Oberlin.
Michelle lays the breed out with the precision of one who also had a chance to study the type, first hand.
Now, all of that said, I will point out that there is an often silent minority on the campus, that understands very well the truth of what I write. So do not tar every Obie with the same brush. There are those, again, who are there to actually learn; not to have an orgasm over what President Krislov means by "diversity."
