I don’t agree that its ok to ban a company from conducting a background check. However I don’t agree with laws that prohibit anyone with a felony from certain occupations either. Here in TN, if you have a prior felony of any kind, you cannot hold a job that requires a state license. That includes restaurant servers (must be licensed to serve alcohol) and hair stylists/barbers, and the like. So if you have a minor drug felony, for example, pay your debt to society, you still can’t hardly find work. There has to be some common sense area in this debate.

Governments (at any level) should not be involved at all in private sector hiring. The decision to hire or not should be entirely up to the employer.
