You are right. There are too many fast food restaurants, lawnscaping services and convenience stores. If we go back to those days’ wages we should go back to a less convenient business environment. And think of the skyrocketing unemployment.
So there were no landscaping co’s, ff restaurants or 7-11’s in the 1970’s? Minimum wage was higher in the 1970’s and even higher in the 1960’s than now. Raising the minimum wage a couple of bucks is not going to kill the economy.
To a ‘Progressive’ there are never any consequences for their actions.
My dream job would be to drive the Karma bus.
They have to keep raising it because if they don’t, people would figure out there is no need for it.
The youth unemployment rate was 16.3 percent in July 2013.

Why do you suppose that is?
the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3% - the lowest since 1979!
Hiring has improved since the financial crash of 2008, but the positions being filled are mostly low-wage and part-time gigs, according to a new analysis by Reuters.
[T]hree out of four of the nearly 1 million hires this year are part-time and many of the jobs are low-paid, the report reads.

If it weren’t for food stamps, this would look just like the 1930s. We may get there yet. Obamacare is killing small companies and they are reducing hours, And NOW you want to raise the minimum wage just a couple of bucks? Lacking situational awareness.
Raising the minimum wage a couple of bucks today would be like raising the minimum wage 30 cents in 1974.
