Originally from Malawi, Sitinga has lived in Malawi, (apartheid) South Africa, (West) Germany and the U.S. which has shaped her outlook on the world. Her hobbies include watching international cinema, chess, board games, reading and writing poetry, and now, blogging. She blogs at: (Re) brand Africa because she believes that Until the Lion Learns to Write, Tales of the Hunt will Always Glorify the Hunter. She thinks its important for people to share ideas, thoughts and voices in Africa particularly for African women. Her topics of interest include socio-economic development, nation-branding, photography and African identity and representations.
She is currently a Masters candidate in Pan African Studies at Syracuse University. She received an MBA in Marketing at Hood College and a BSc in Anthropology and Sociology with a double minor in African/African-American Studies and International Studies at Truman State University. At Truman, she served as President and co-founder of the African Students Association and as President of the International Club.
She has worked as a program specialist for non-profit patient assistance programs and public health reimbursement foundations. She has volunteered on the board of the Malawi Washington Association.
