You make a good point. Lazy whites (Social Security disability scams and out-of-wedlock births) are catching up with traditionally dissolute blacks and Hispanics. Scholar Charles Murray has pointed this out.
The liberals have won their battle. Just about EVERYONE is gorging at the pig trough.
Adjust the numbers for a couple or three cultural variables and most if not all of the difference disappears.
Even though blacks have been given every advantage known to man for placement, hiring, promotion, etc.
...White folks getting the hell out of South Africa and letting the colored folks drive it into the ground.
I dunno, juss sayin.
That’s 50 years of the “War on Poverty”.
I'm not making any excuses for indolence, but I think it is very important to recognize the role that demotivation has in all of this. If you feel that you can prosper on the basis of your own efforts, and with time achieve more and more, you feel hope and motivation.
With our march toward socialism and governments’ push for equal outcomes, along with the inevitable stalling of the economy that goes along with those things, the sense that you can define your own destiny goes by the wayside. Further, if you do achieve, you are chastised and targeted, and they want to confiscate what you've earned. There's a reason alcoholism and low productivity were big problems in the USSR.
We no longer celebrate individual industry. Success is now met with “You didn't build that”.
For starters, I suppose 80% of black babies born into a fatherless home is irrelevant?
Toss in the socialist, thug & racist culture, it’s a no-brainer why there is a gap.

Well said.
Of course, there is no excuse for the indolence of poor whites and middle-class slackers. Many — if not most — jobless people could find honorable employment if they were willing to work harder, lower their excessive expectations or choose more productive college majors.
You’re quite right that the socialists are steadily taking away the right to “define our own destiny.” If taxes, regulation and the demonization of the rich get bad enough, the money, the talent and finally the people will go overseas.
If I didn't have a child to raise I would already be looking hard, although the craziness seems to have infected a significant portion of the world.
Meanwhile the Vietnamese refugees have assimilated and economically have excelled within the US. I think it has to do with work ethic and willingness to educate oneself.
If you’re going to distribute that chart, be ready for the response. That chart will make a completely different point when labels are added for “Bush elected”, “Bush tax cuts”, “Democrats take Congress” and “Republicans take back House/Rise of the TEA Party”.
I’m not saying any of those events caused anything. I’m saying be real careful trying to use cherry-picked evidence to make a point, because the other side can play that game as well (okay, probably better).
Nothing has changed for the better. But things haven’t stayed the same either as the article points to. Poor urban minority communities are far worse off thanks to Progressive meddling than they were in the ‘50s. And not just economically. If inner city blacks had any sense of self preservation they would shoot politicians on sight. Especially Democrats.
Re: “Federal employed blacks confidently live the American dream.”
Yes they do - and the rest of the college educated Black community has noticed.
Roughly 15% of American jobs are government related.
But, in 2008, before the Great Recession set in, 24% of working Blacks were employed by government.
However, today, after significant cut backs in state and local government spending, about 20% of Blacks are employed by government.
