With the President poised to strike in Syria and the Congress set to vote on the issue the week of Sep. 9, the debate about U.S. military intervention in the two-year-old civil war is already happening amongst the American public.
Some Americans have made their voices known to their representatives, while many others have said the U.S. should stay out of the conflict, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
In the poll, only 20% said the U.S. should take action, although that was up from 9% last week. Even if it's clear the Assad regime used chemical weapons on civilians, only 29% said the U.S. should intervene.

Military personnel can say whatever they wish anomalously. By obscuring their face, that is what they are doing...
Geez, if I could only fit into my dress uniform right now (temporary condition, d@mmit!) I would write out a sign, hold it over my face & just barely let my name tag show, with all my ribbons, etc., be photographed and upload.
When some Pentagon desk jockey ID’s me in order to send me a threatening letter, he/she will only learn that they are speaking to a retired veteran.
What if a bunch of us vets did the same? That would waste all kinds of time for the political correctness enforcers.
Oh yes, I support the active military who are protesting. You don’t join up & then place your conscience in a file drawer to be left undisturbed until retirement. No way Jose.
Let me tell you a true story. I didn’t served in US Army but in IDF. In 1982, while in Lebanon, I refused order from one of the highly ranking officers on the grounds that it will cause high casualties among my soldiers. I was facing court martial and was ready to go to military jail. I knew that I made a right decision so I could care less. To make it short, my punishment was reversed by the Chief of Stuff himself and later I was awarded “Chief of Stuff Citation” for saving dozens of lives. Few weeks later the officer who sent me to jail was demoted.
sure he should, makes it extremely clear what he is, and what his opinions are regarding illegal orders. These are not normal times we’re in and the sooner folks realize they need to pull out all the stops, the better off we’ll be.
These military folks are pleading for the public to wake up and deliver the country from the hands of evil. What say you?
I’ve got nothing against EMs. A vast majority of the ones that worked for me were great people. That said, strategic decision making is way above their pay grade.

The Hatch Act is from 1939 and put into place by the communist President FDR, but it does not and has never applied to military personnel.

They are American citizens and voters, of which we all are the strategic decisions makers. We tell our elected representatives what we want. We don’t just elect them and sit back awaiting for them to tell our military what wars they want to fight.
I’m a vet, and I would speak my mind if and when I want. Some rules aren’t rules at all, but directives to enslave. If they made it illegal to sleep in your bed, would you do it anyways?
Maybe not all of the military votes got counted...there is always a problem getting military votes in on time. Why?
Is there an abundance of Dem. votes to Rep. votes? Can the military voting system be assured as correct?
Maybe only some votes count....you always hear about some votes from military getting "lost".
Question: Can someone in the military call themselves "conscientious objector' (CO) at any time during service?

These policies have looted the American treasure leaving an ocean of American blood. Our borders are now a land of open hostile violence...Millions were allowed and even encouraged to enter illegally. These millions are all aided abetted by government at tax payer expense....Our mismanaged bloated government bent over borrowed trillions from the Communist at the expense of future generations...All this while the dollar becomes worth less and less while the standard of living and economy decline.
I would imagine the insiders in govenrment and their super wealthy friends are feeling fortunate. Given the fact those in the military so far, have only held up hand printed signs in protest.

Good on you, as you did the right thing. You refused an order to save lives, and you kept in your chain of command...very admirable.
These men have not been given any illegal orders. If orders are given they find to be illegal, they can refuse them. They cannot issue political statements in uniform. They are making political statements about hypothetical orders.
Kerry has been very cagey when talking about the chem. weapons.
He says chem. weapons were definitely used but he never says who deployed them. Never.
Let me know when he starts emphatically saying it was definitely Assad or definitely the "rebels".
I don't think there is debate over chem. weapons being used. The question is who used them and Kerry gets a little vague. It's what he doesn't say.

You realize the military still gets to vote, right? That’s the highest form of political opinion.
I think it’s a dangerous precident to politisize the military. Remember Rome. A presidential candidate doesn’t need our vote if all he needs is the military. Still, it’s stupid to go into Syria, and if we had better govt we wouldn’t be having this discussion.
