Gay rights ordinance in Texas draws Republican objections

SAN ANTONIO—Gay rights victories in Texas haven’t come at the Capitol but at city hall. While nondiscrimination bills in the Legislature languish, Houston has a lesbian mayor and Austin offers health benefits for same-sex couples.

But in San Antonio, conservatives are pushing back against one proposed stride—an ordinance that’s virtually identical to measures adopted in every other major Texas city.

The San Antonio City Council is expected to vote today on amending its nondiscrimination code to include protections for sexual orientation and gender identity. The local issue has drawn top-line Republican opposition from such heavyweights as U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who is the early favorite to become Texas governor in 2014.

Do they know who the sailor is with that rainbow flag?
Did he bring the flag there himself or did he confiscate it?
As a sailor in uniform, can he legally take part in a pro gay rights protest?

It’s not okay for soldiers to wear uniforms at political rallies except for the homo’s now.

The indoctrination continues.

Why have Laws in place to reward (yes, "Reward" is the proper term) deviant SELF-CHOSEN sexual behavior, contrary to the Christian-based former America that worked so well? Just claim your buddy is your "Partner", and you gain the Benefits of what used to be reserved for honest-to-goodness Families of Father+Mother, Husband+Wife, which improved and grew society with responsible behavior.

It's only a matter of time before Divorce and family members FIGHTING over the Estates of the sex deviates becomes the REAL concern, and people will start waking up to reality.

Sex activities alone should NOT be the basis of gaining $$$, which is ALL this is about. Public Sector workers who want to be accorded recognition for their sexploits with ADDED Taxpayer-funded handouts is not in the best interest of society, AT ALL.

The State of Texas should take the route pursued by a few other states and pass a law that precludes these fake “anti-discrimination” ordinances from being enacted by any political subdivision in the interest of religious freedom.

It can, and should, be done.

Even as the debate on this ordinance was underway, there were analysts saying that it will likely be challenged in court before the end of the year.

Looks as if he is there taking a political stance in favor of gay rights while in uniform.

That is a violation.
