$6,000? That sounds crazy. My understanding is that this was released recently as a buttstock upgrade to any AR or AK and is not that expensive.

Ah, so the stock I was thinking of is the same company, but it’s only $400 ish.

My local FFL has the Slide-Fire unit for $375, installed. But not belt-fed AR-15s... I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before.

Typical misleading article written by those who don't understand firearms.
It's $6,000 not because of the $300 bumpfire stock. It's because of the expensive belt feed upper on the semi-auto AR lower. Probably an Ares or similer unit.

$1,500 for the AR.
$3,600 for the belt feed conversion (Valkyrie armament)
$400 for the Slidefire stock
$5,500. Or if you're not handy, buy their $6,000 unit that's already been assembled, tested and get a warranty.
