Full title: Is Assad hiding his chemical weapons outside Syria? Rebel leader claims stockpiles have been moved to Lebanon and Iraq to prevent detection

Syrian president Bashar Assad is hiding his chemical weapons outside the country to prevent the deadly arsenal being destroyed, a rebel leader has claimed.

The dictator has been accused of moving his stockpiles across the border to Lebanon and Iraq to evade a possible inspection.

His forces were said to have acted after the US and Russia agreed to secure and eliminate the weapons – a deal hailed by Assad’s regime as a ‘victory’.

General Salim Idris, head of the Syrian opposition’s supreme military council, said: ‘We have told our friends that the regime has begun moving a part of its chemical weapons arsenal to Lebanon and Iraq. We told them do not be fooled.’

He criticised the deal for allowing Assad to escape being held to account for killing hundreds of civilians, adding: ‘All of this initiative does not interest us. Russia is a partner with the regime in killing the Syrian people.

” Rebel leader claims stockpiles have been moved to Lebanon and Iraq to prevent detection “
Interesting, since they probably came from Iraq in the first place.

Or maybe just stop meddling in the affairs of other countries and then we won’t have to worry about whether or not they have any chemical weapons. This is 100 year old technology, folks. The genie isn’t going back into the bottle and it’s stupid to bankrupt yourself to try and put it back in there.

Of what use are Syria’s Chemical weapons and when does Assad intend to use them?

Assad is fighting a Rebel insurgency led by Al Qaeda. According to some he is losing. If the Chemical weapons are to be used, why not use them now? Why is he keeping them waiting until his regime is destroyed. Are they his weapons of last resort? A weapon one is frightened to use is of no use except for a suicidal attack.

Why would he move them? Is he saving them for someone else to use?

The idea of chemical weapons appears to be a stupid one to me unless there is some plan to use them. Or is he just saving them for other Muslims to use against Israel?

That's how insane despots in the Middle East do things.

It's a nut shell game.

When attacked or threatened, Iraq moves WMD to Syria, then Syria moves the stuff to Iraq, of course the Hizbollah in northeastern (Ba’albek) Lebanon just love to accept any lethal stuff their allies have to hide so they store it, (under the watchfull Israeli eye) hoping to use it on Israel some day.

In any event these shipments are monitored by the Al-Quds (Islamic name for Jerusalem) Brigades in Hizbollah, the Russians and Iranian Republican Guard.

If the Hizbollah gets threatened it's no problem, these movers just ship it back to the country sender just protected by Russia or not being attacked after all (Syria). It's like Elvis’ “Return to Sender, address unknown...” song.

This is what they do best, lie, obstruct, cheat, kill, ship and store WMD in the basements of urban or country civilian apartments or villages. In that way, they can cry foul if these sites are hit by “Imperialist or Zionist” forces.

Their whole existence is based on human shields. So when their not gassing their own people, they're using them as human shields.

Such is the shell game in the Middle East. At some point in the distant future Obama and Kerry may figure this out but I am not holding my breath...

The democrats denied this sort of thing could take place when the WMD’s disappeared from Iraq.

“General Salim Idris, head of the Syrian opposition’s supreme military council”—a liar, a muslim and a member of al quaida who would benefit from getting Assad bombed and who is now bitterly dissappointed that the white devils will not be bombing Assad’s positions

CS gas—legal chemical weapon

we have tons of it

why keep them? Probably to sell to Libya Somolia etc, are you forgetting they have instrinsic value

just turn over the ones that are a hassle to UN peacekeepers

and let’s not lose sight of the fact that al quaida clearly possesses and uses chemical weapons——they get to keep theirs and Assad has to turn over his? Really?

This General is a liar and a schemer and I hope he reaps what he sows which is death and destruction

“Now there’s a reputable source.’

Good observation, Assad is the least worst of the two choices and he at least lets Christians live as Christians
