” practically-minded Republicans, like Sen. John McCain (Ariz.). Now we are assuming he has a brain.”

McCain is a slow motion disaster for conservatives, something like Chinese water torture. Cruz, conversely, will prove to be a very short-fused weapon of conservative self destruction.

Using budget gimmicks to “force” the left to make an about face on the ACA will not succeed; indeed it will be a spectacular failure. Please, do not go down this path again.

The GOP is in decent shape to make meaningful gains in the Senate and maybe the House in 2014. Regaining control of Capitol Hill is the only way to overturn ObamaCare. Don’t blow our only chance to stop this train wreck pursuing political theatre that will feel good for about 30 seconds before the stage collapses around us.

Cruz is an ambitious man. He advances his political fortunes in this battle, win or lose. Be wary of following an ambitious and careless man.

In my opinion, the best way to make those gains you see happening is for the GOP to stand firm and vote to defund Obamacare.

If the Senate fails to go along, you get a list of Senators who shut down the government for the sake of saving Obamacare.

If the Senate caves, and President Obama vetoes, you get a list of Senators, and House members, who supported President Obama in shutting down the government for the sake of saving Obamacare.

Whoever votes to shut down the government just to save Obamacare has the losing side of the political battle on this one. Shut it down and let’s see who caves.

Will constituents be calling Republican Congressman saying that they need their benefits so badly that the GOP has to go along with Obamacare, or will they be calling Dem Congressmen saying, “To hell with Obamacare, give me my benefits!” Don’t forget, most of them have Dem Congressmen in the first place.

Boehner wants to protect the budget cuts provided by sequestration. Those cuts are “small ball” compared to Obamacare.

Go, Cruz, GO!! If Obama shuts down the government, he’s toast!! Lame duck presidency!! Dead duck democrats. America will discover we can get along perfectly fine without federal interference. And if Obama the tyrant dares try to shutdown social security checks and military pay as he threatens, he will light off a people’s pitchfork and torch march on Washington like never seen before. Go ahead, Obama. Make my day!!

The gains aren't meaningful if the Repubs elect a bunch more McCain look-alikes. The left elected the most left wing President in history, its time for the pendulum to be swung back to a much more free market, constitutional position which isn't going to happen without drastic action on the part of the Repubs.

The problem with your line of thinking is that if the GOP stand for nothing now, they will stand for nothing in the next Congress. They have preemptively surrendered across the board to the Dems on just about everything. They have failed to even engage the Dems in a serious debate about kenyancare while the slow motion trainwreck happens in front of us. That’s all we need to see to know that the current GOP will NEVER repeal obamacare.

Sorry, it is just wishful thinking that the current GOP with control of the Senate and/or WH will behave any differently than they are now.

More RINOs?

Continue the 20-year-long strategic retreat?

No thanks.
