With 30 years in the media, mostly radio under my belt, very few high profile air talent leave when the airshift is done. Well that’s the way it used to be. There are commercials, promos and personal things that need attention.
When I did morning news I came to work between midnight and 1AM.
5 hours writing and putting newscasts together, printing and then updating as needed. On the air until 10AM. Another hour unwinding, updating my phone calls/answering machine.
Today obviously things are faster but I imagine in TV there is still a lot to do.
I dare say they’ve probably a larger staff for her program than you had for your radio news.
Heck, Greta’s show goes until 8 now and she’s talking about commuting home in daylight for half the year.
