So Ronnie Earle basically destroyed Tom DeLay with no legal justification. Does DeLay have any options for recouping any of his legal costs to fight this bogus prosecution? If I were he and it’s doable I’d try to get Earle disbarred.

Dismembered would be more to my liking. Craniectomy.

Ronnie Earle used his office primarily to conduct political fishing expeditions against perceived enemies of the Democratic Machine, and even tried this on Bob Bullock. Yet as a prosecutor of any real crime in Travis County, he was a useless POS. One example was his handling of the prosecution of the Yogurt Shop Murders case in Austin. The perp wound up pushing his luck too far a few years later and effectively committed suicide by cop during the commission of a later crime. Even rank and file deputies in the Travis County Sheriff’s Department have little respect for Earle.
