Yes I have been there. I have also been to the other bellies of the beast, LA and SF. In fact, I was there yesterday, and I will be there again tomorrow, unfortunately.

I have. Lived just up the river and would often take the Hudson Line of the Metro-North down for day trips.
Subway or MTA, mattered not, I would not stand where I could be pushed or shoved onto the tracks. Always left enough room that I could drop to the platform.
