my understanding is this (anyone correct me if I am wrong)

the cloture vote is needed to end debate on the CR...once debate is ended no more amendments can be offered and Harry Reid can then strip the language to defund obamacare. In addition voting for cloture means that Harry only needs 51 votes to pass the CR ( without the defunding portion) instead of 2/3.

I’m a little slow, but I never understood cloture and how it works and how it affects me..

We wanted to hold the line here with 41 votes so that Reid could not go forward with his plan to allow ONLY ONE amendment to the House-passed Continuing Resolution Bill.

The "moderate" Republicans have a different "strategy", so they are voting to move on to Reid's amendment. Reid will strip the House bill of the Obamacare defunding and then the Senate will vote on the bill, with only simple majority needed for passage. The bill will then go back to the House.

The House will then either attempt to put the language back in or will vote on the Senate amended bill.

Alternatively, there are rumors circulating that Boehner will produce another bill which raises the debt ceiling with the condition of a one year delay in Obamacare.

I called RINO Roy Blunt’s DC office yesterday. What jerks! the gal that answered the phone was very very arrogant & quite a twit to me. She was very adamant that ole get-along Roy was going to vote FOR/along with dirty Harry. As I’d explained to her ‘why he should vote NO’, she was quite a hag. As for the RINO’s I think some of them either just don’t get it or just don’t care at all.. I even said, ‘he’s SUPPOSED to be there for US; to vote what WE wish him to vote’. She basically laughed me down & talked over me the whole time. I was one the phone with her for quite awhile. I even said to her, ‘NO MORE $$ to Blunt for re-election & would do my best to keep him from being re-elected’. She talked over me on that one too. After hanging up, I was completely blown away & ticked at the sheer audacity. Today, I shared w/RUSH on an email to let him know as well. Anyone out there: BLAST BLUNT!
