I’m a little slow, but I never understood cloture and how it works and how it affects me..

We wanted to hold the line here with 41 votes so that Reid could not go forward with his plan to allow ONLY ONE amendment to the House-passed Continuing Resolution Bill.

The "moderate" Republicans have a different "strategy", so they are voting to move on to Reid's amendment. Reid will strip the House bill of the Obamacare defunding and then the Senate will vote on the bill, with only simple majority needed for passage. The bill will then go back to the House.

The House will then either attempt to put the language back in or will vote on the Senate amended bill.

Alternatively, there are rumors circulating that Boehner will produce another bill which raises the debt ceiling with the condition of a one year delay in Obamacare.

which does nothing for us and will provide political cover for those who voted aye when the whole plan goes south. THAT I do understand..
