I give Boehner less than 3 days after the nonsensical government "shut down" starts to fold like a cheap suit.

Any takers?

Yes

I may be wrong, but my understanding is when the govt shuts down military personnel will still be paid, social security checks will still go out, medicare and medicaid will still be paid so where's the pressure on the Pubs? It's the Rat base that works for the civilian wing of the govt. If I'm right as the pressure mounts on the Rats the Pubs my be able to leverage a lot of things into the final agreement.

I know the Pubs consistently disappoint us, but the Tea Party base and Sen. Cruz have changed this "crisis". The weak in the knees Pubs know they will see primary challengers if they waffle.

Delay is entrenchment. It gives them time to get their act together while the alternatives slowly die.

It is absolutely the wrong move.

Polls changed thanks to Cruz. As well as all the insurance renewal letters coming in the mail right now.

GOP Talking point will be: “Democrats shut down the government to protect Obamacare which everyone sees isn’t working as promised.”

Ted Cruz is a hero. This Obamacare crime instrument is nothing but another way to shaft the middle class. The non-productive underclass will have government support for their healthcare, paid for by our taxes, while those of us who make too much for that subsidy will have our healthcare rates rise by almost, or more than 70% in many cases, and have fewer doctors to choose from. Look at what’s happened to grocery prices—since so many out there have food stamps they aren’t concerned about price and the rest of us pay the taxes to provide the food stamps and pay for the jacked up food prices as well. Oh yeah, and when our kids go to college their tuition is up %100, and if they try to get a job during or after college the wages they make won’t even begin to pay for gas, insurance and rent, let alone health insurance. The girls are better off just having babies so they can qualify for benefits, and the boys are totally lost. Obama’s buddies, meanwhile, are becoming richer than rich with the aid of the Bond markets, benefiting from all the money being printed which will eventually devalue our money so much we’ll lose our status as the reserve currency. Obama and his class will all be on their private islands by then.

I heard some government lame brain today on FOX bemoaning the fact that the parks and museums would be closed if there was a govt. shut down. Really—who gives a sh!t! Our country is going down the drain, and our kids will be left slaves to the debt we are incurring, with no hope for lives anywhere near as good as ours have been. That’s if we aren’t invaded by the Islamists or Russians by then. We are in a dangerous position, and all these idiots can talk about is how bad it will be to shut down the Smithsonian.

I like the year delay if it’s a real delay.

My questions:
1. Are they funding any part of it through other channels?
2. Is IRS getting additional funds to implement it?
3. Are exchanges getting money to keep building?

“This would not be happening if not for the efforts of Ted Cruz.”

Ted Cruz ain’t in the House, yeah, those 19 votes in the senate and Cruz’s actions really are what have influenced all this, forget that the House defunded it in the first place.

Truth be told, this would not be happening without the efforts of John Boehner or the actions in the House of Representatives before the milk toast Senate got it.

Boehner is not always popular, I don’t care for some of his stances myself but credit where credit is due and this also goes to all of the other Representatives in the House who have steadily rejected the health care.

Truth be told, if the House acted like the Senate, Obamacare would be a done deal.

Maybe the way to be rid of it once and for all is to give the IRS guns, truncheons, and police dogs, and fully implement obamacare in a month by any means necessary.

Yeah, those 19 votes in the Senate really turned this, forget that the Republican majority House defunded it in the first place

The delay is the best case scenario now. Delay forces the democrats to defend and fight for this monstrosity for another year. Every day we learn more about how bad it is and more companies are dumping employees off their plans. Cruz’s valiant fight is working. Force Reid and the dens to say no to this. This is the best move we have.

What would be the repercussions of this? Anyone willing to do an in-depth analysis of political impact ala 2014?

I think they are holding together on this one.

We're witnessing an interesting dynamic involving the conflicting political realities faced by House members and Senators -- even in the same state. A House member may represent a district where there is a lot of political pressure to repeal ObamaCare completely, while a Senator representing the entire state where that House district is located may be seeing very different political pressure.

Interesting dynamic related to the functions of a bicameral legislature.

And good political move by Boehner, because it would keep this monstrosity of a law in the limelight well into next year's midterm elections.

How about defund and repeal. Short of that, no exemptions. Not Congress, not the pResident, Not the Courts.

NO ONE GETS OUT OF IT!
NOT SCHUMER, DURBAN, MCCAIN, REID, PELOSI, OBAMA, ROBERTS, NO ONE!

I'm on a roll today. I'm also in healthcare, and everyone needs to know that in those 2,000 + pages of the Obamacare law there are all kids of pork items gifted to the Democratic supporters that will continue to drive up healthcare prices. These mandatory spending items have nothing to do with providing care. There are mandatory cancer patient reporting guidelines for example, that will compel physicians to report every patient who has ever had cancer every time they are seen in a doctor's office, even if it's for a sniffle or a blood test. The agencies that monitor cancer incidence reporting don't even have the capability to receive or handle the torrent of information that will result, and they are frantically trying to figure out how to handle and integrate the information. The physicians will have to pay millions in software and employee expenses in order to meet these demands. I was involved with this effort in a group run by the CDC and it was the software folks that were salivating over this, as they stand to earn millions with these extra requirements. This falls under the Meaningful Use portion of the medical records guidelines. That's just one small part of what is being mandated.

Delay in it will help on the individual mandate. It way to late for consumers wanting health coverage, companies with health plans and insurance companies those decisions have been made months ago. Usually October and November are open enrollment periods. People are already getting the shock and it too late to stop that. The entire law need to go but a delay won't help the Democrats. I believe people know who created this disaster and it wasn't just Obama. The entire Democrat party need to be punished (not that I'm all that happy with the Republicans either). But they aren't responsible for this mess of a law.

I thought the Rat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party) wanted a delay so they and their MSM could keep the truth from the 2014 elections.
