So, a lot of folks are talking about last nights season premiere of Saturday Night Live and its skit on Obamas sell of Obamacare. Many are commenting that it mocks Obamacare. Im not sure I really saw it entirely the same way.
Check it out for yourself:

To set the scene for those of you who dont feel like watching the video, several regular Americans are invited to approach the podium as Obama speaks to an audience to try and sell the Affordable Care Act.
The first is a woman who gleefully says she is psyched for Obamacare because now she can get sick as much as she wants. Another is a father who laments that Obama has made sure that his slacker adult son, who has pinched a nerve in a porn-viewing accident, will never have to lift a finger to get health insurance, thanks to Obama. He rushes off exclaiming, Chris Christie in 16!
The skit then makes a quick slam on Ted Cruzs quasi-filibuster, citing Dr. Seuss lines and demanding a government shutdown. Parody Cruz is escorted off the stage by security as he yells, Horton may hear a who, but the only thing Im hearing right now is Socialism!!!
An iPhone customer jumps to the podium to decry that her new phone broke and hasnt been fixed. Parody Obama says, I believe youre confusing Obamacare with AppleCare, to which she responds, either way, happened on your watch.
An ER doctor then complains that if people in this country would just stop putting stuff up their butts, wed save $5 billion a year in health care costs.
The highlight of the skit of course comes as Breaking Bads Aaron Paul takes the stage, in his shows character as Jesse Pinkman, to explain that a lack of affordable health care is to blame for the destructive path of his friend, implied to be the shows main character, Walter White. White is a chemistry teacher who turned to a life of crime after being diagnosed with incurable lung cancer. (You have to watch Breaking Bad to understand the whole backstory, so you can read about that here).
Lastly, Obamacare Oscar does the Health Care Boogie to tell us all how easy it is to sign up for the health insurance plan. After Oscar falls off the stage, he begs that an ambulance not be called because he doesnt have insurance. When Obama asks why he didnt sign up, Oscar scoffs, ah, it was too complicated to figure out.
I dont know, I saw it a little differently than some others. SNL seemed to be giving Obama a pass, to me. Heres the message I took away after watching the skit: Poor Obama. Obamacare is unpopular because, you know, its just sooooo haaaaard to sell it to all you Americans who just cant possibly understand it. Its not that its a bad law, its that Americans just dont get it.
Right on. Exactly what I got out of it.
Watched it... I don’t care who you are.. that right there is some damn good PROPAGANDA!...
A lesson on how you can mock something and promote it at the same time..
Won’t work on the reasonably sentient.. but then WHO IS.?...
The “DITZ” quotient in American is thru the roof.. i.e. male/female,,
The “ditzes” GOT IT!.............
They din’t even get close to what the did when republicans were in office. They actually used the opportunity to say that the public doesn’t understand the intent of the program. They made more fun of Ted Cruz than they did of 0bama.
The question to be asked is: If it is in the Nations best interest to shut down the Government, then why are there only TWO Federal Politicians, Obama and Reid, loudly advocating shutting down the US Federal Government?
Obama has MANY reasons to shutdown the Federal Government such as:
1.) A headline grabbing story that will distract attention from the Impeachable scandals of:
Benghazi Massacre Dereliction of Duty by Obama as CIC;
Obamacare Insurance managed by the corrupt IRS;
IRS harassment of political opponents of Obama;
Use of the NSA by Obama to spy on everybody in the USA;
etc, etc.
2.) The use of fear of a shutdown might help to protect defunding and eventual abolishment of Obamas narrowly focucused ideological agenda of an European-style, failure-prone, Marxist, monopoly of the US Medical Insurance Industry.
3.) Spreading fear and blame might also preserve Obamas power to increase Obamacare Insurance premiums on an annual basis.
*This would be highly advantageous to Obama as the increase in mandatory insurance premiums would not be a tax, as the unexpected market conditions would be given as the reason for the increase.
*Also there would be no need to ask for the Advice and Consent of Congress, as the IRS would be in complete control of all income and medical records.
4.) The last reason is the most important for Obama, personally: America would at last no longer be a Nation where the Liberty to choose ones own family destiny could ever exist again.
As for Reid, the best guess I have is that he wants a Government Monopoly of the Medical Insurance Industry. Well, to be fair, Reid calls for a single payer system.
My guess is that multi-millionaire Reid, nearing Federal retirement, owns a lot of stock in some companies that are tied to a single payer system.
Maybe the NSA, or the IRS can find out for us?
Im going to as my US Senator from TEXAS, The Esteemed Senator John To Hell with my voters Cornyn to check on this for me - - - .
I haven’t watched SNL in years, but what would you expect out of a group out of NYC
A few years ago that indecent gesture by the fat girl would never have made it through the censors, even if it wasn’t the full fledged gesture. LGBT have them intimidated?
That’s how I saw it.
I thought the tone was - Poor poor Barack, all the crap he has to deal with.
I wish they would, and there are so many easy shots they could take. But SNL seemed to be mocking its critics, including Ted Cruz, as much as they were the resident and his healthcare law.
SNL obviously favors the law strongly. They just took the opportunity to poke a little good-natured fun at its problems getting off the ground.
SNL’s true attitude is shown by the crashing lameness of their shot at Ted Cruz.
The health insurance Walter White had in BB didn’t pay for the really expensive specialist he hired to heal him...
