Senate kills latest ObamaCare counter-offer, bill kicks back to House

The Senate voted for the second time Monday to kill a Republican counter-offer that would rein in ObamaCare while funding the government, kicking the bill back to the House with only a couple hours left on the clock before the government begins to shut down.

Lawmakers are facing a midnight deadline to reach an agreement on a government spending bill. Senate Democrats vow they will not accept any proposal that targets ObamaCare.

The latest House bill would have delayed the law's individual mandate while prohibiting lawmakers, their staff and top administration officials from getting government subsidies for their health care.

The Senate voted 54-46 along party lines to reject it.

“At this point, it would take an act of God to change the Democrats-—prayer is the MOST powerful outlet we, who are Christian Conservatives have.”

That is absolutely correct. However, you(we)need to get our priorities right first. Personally, I think God is more interested in “moral” correctness than “fiscal” correctness. The ACA (AKA Obamacare)appears to increase public funding on infanticide (abortion). That is what concerns God...not the politics of socialized medicine (although I think socialized medicine is wrong). I also think God is more concerned about the homosexualization of the military and society. However, only a handful on this forum really care about that.....it is way too Libertarian which is NOT a generally moral outlook.

The stuff we REALLY need to pray about is the rampant sexual immorality (both hetero and homo) in this country and our tolerance of it (to some fools here under the guise of “liberty”). IF we would, as a start, repent of the sexual immorality then the fiscal matters will fall into place. Most here just want “fiscal” conservatism, but no moral conservatism. That is a nightmare in my worldview, and I believe an affront to God. So, pray for our leaders, but pray for them to be turned to the mind of God (and to God)....and see things as He does. End abortion, end an acceptance/toleration of sexual immorality of all sorts....prostitution, pornography, fornication, adultery, homosexuality...etc. This would be a good start. Focusing on fiscal matters is just rearranging furniture in a building on fire. This country’s slide towards Sodom is the main thing burning it to the ground.

If i were the Democrats id kdo the same thing. Everytime they vote a bill down a new one comes back a few hours kater closer to what they want. Republicans are really bad negotiators

I think Reid is doing this because first and foremost he isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. Beyond that I think they believe they’ll lose the Senate but GOP won’t get near 60 seats.
As for the GOP leadership?

This is my summation of what’s going on. Short version is there are 3 factions in the GOP. McCain and a few others want to surrender. Another group wants to let it go so it crashes and burns and GOP wins Senate control. The last group led by Cruz knows this will harm people and wants to stop it. I am in their camp.

The little children in washington are having a hissy fit.

Children in 1st grade acting like that would have to be put in time out.

Can we switch them around?

“...but Obamacare is still starting.”

I heard Glen Beck today read a list of major insurance companies that are not participating in exchanges, which I haven’t heard anywhere else. What if they throw an exchange party and no one comes?

I have a feeling the exchange websites will fail outright due to poor implementation or be hacked. No way they are secure with the amount of code and links to other agencies they have.

This is when a poison pill needs to be introduced. Repeal of 1968 GCA, 1934 NFA, Hughes Amendment, etc.

I won’t hold my breath but it would be nice to see someone stand up for our Civil Rights for once.

They won’t negotiate. They want unconditional surrender.

I don’t know if I should be amazed, but I am.

Amen to all you both said.

A turn of our country back to God, to holiness and morality, would bring about self discipline in all areas. Believing again that what the Bible says is true would cleanse our nation of the perversion and immorality, but would also cleanse us of sins such as covetousness and theft (which is at the root of all socialism).

If we were once again a Christian nation, and people had self control (well, Holy Spirit control I should say), so many of these problems would resolve themselves. For example, up until about 50 years ago, it was considered really shameful to accept any kind of charity at all, and those who did strove to pay it back as quickly as possible. That’s because people took seriously the verse, “Those who do not work, shall not eat.” You have an entire country that believes the scripture and takes that seriously, you would have people that just wouldn’t accept welfare. Just one example that comes to mind.

And with the end of the promiscituity, etc, families would be intact again, men would work hard to provide and women would see to it that the children would be raised with morals and manners, etc.

So I agree, that’s where our prayers should be focused.

They even voted to keep the medical device tax in place which is devastating research and development and the related job growth. Fewer medical devices for the sick and injured and fewer new devices which could improve their quality of life...brought to you courtesy of the Democrats.

Please, please, please, at least cut off power and water to the White House. Oh, and the cable. You have got to cut off access to cable TV.
