The fact that we are here today to debate raising Americas debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government cant pay its own bills. ... I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase Americas debt limit.

But . . . but . . . but that was different.
That was prolly the only time he spoke in the senate.
Wow he actually voted something other than present on this one! Now that’s a big F N deal!
There’s needs to be a giant display board with that quote on it. It needs to be set up on the floor of congress in the background whenever a republican senator or congressman is at the podium during the debt debate.
It needs to be on the front page of the NYSlimes, WashingtonCompost, LASlimes, NPR, PBS, NBC, ABC, CNN...but it won’t be.
Since we are going to have to face this again in six weeks then we might as well keep it shut down for atleast six weeks.
Let’s see who squeals first — they already are. HUD rat counters in the cities are picketing already.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ‘s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America ‘s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here”. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better”
Senator Barack H. Obama, March 16, 2006
