How might conservatism and constitutionalism gain or lose from this line of thinking?

I would whole-heartedly trust Ted Cruz's decision in this matter.

As Spengler notes -- Cruz has revealed himself to be a particularly adroit politician and a strong leader. Certainly, the best example of these skills in the Republican party since Ronaldus Magnus.

Conservatism and the Constitution will be well-served under Cruz's leadership.

I hope you are right. However, there is real danger then too. Do you know why?

Huey Long staged a one man filibuster against Social Security. Being a radical, he did not think FDR’s plan went far enough. Less than one month later, back in Louisiana, he was assassinated.

Coincidence right?

Do you know what FDR’s opinion was?

‘In politics there are no coincidences.’
