Dr. Drew Pinsky: Obama Voters Don't Want Free Health Care If They Have to Pay for It
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 10/02/13 | The Maha

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Dr. Drew Pinsky was on Anderson Cooper 222 last night. Anderson Cooper said to Drew Pinsky, "I don't know all the details of what exactly is covered. It's an incredibly confusing thing. I spent all day reading about it." This is about Obamacare. Drew Pinsky talked about the people he treats and deals with and what they think about it.

PINSKY: There's a really another interesting layer to this that people aren't talking about. Today, I often spend a lot of my time finding resources for people who don't have insurance. So today I had three calls. I said, "Good news." (bangs table) "You can sign up for Obamacare today." Not interested. Not so interested in spending money. Just want care. To get people that have never done this before used to the idea that, not only they have access, they can get this coverage, they must do this --

COOPER: Because the people you're talking to feel that they can fall back on the social safety net --

PINSKY: The safety net.

COOPER: -- emergency rooms visits and whatever.

PINSKY: They're used to using the safety net, which is unfortunate. We've almost acculturated ourselves to this safety net.

RUSH: There's Drew Pinsky, Dr. Drew Pinsky, explaining that the people he deals with say, "What do you mean, pay for it? I'm not going to this website. What the hell? I'll just do the emergency room if I get sick. I'm not going to any website here. I'll just fall back on the social safety net. I'll be taken care of," and then he finished. He added this...

PINSKY: There's hubristic part of this to an which is the idea that people who are uninsured can go online. I can't get my healthy, educated young males to go online and sign up for any insurance. My uninsured, uneducated, perhaps stricken-resourced population to get on line? That's hubris to say, "Oh, just go online and sign up!"

RUSH: Most of his patients... He's saying that most of his patients don't know how to do this anyway. "What? You're asking me to go online and sign up for what? Medical care? Health insurance?" They're clueless. This is a guy on CNN, and he's admitting that the people he deals with and treats haven't the slightest idea of two things. They haven't slightest idea what's going on and when they find out, "Well, I'm not doing that. I'll just rely on the social safety net."

Big surprise, huh?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So let me summarize what Dr. Drew Pinsky was saying in his appearance on CNN last night. He says nobody's gonna want free health care if they have to pay for it. (summary) "What do you mean, sign up on a website? I'm not gonna sign up on a website. Pay for it? I'll just use the social safety net, that's what I'll do." Now, I don't even think they use those terms. That's just his term for whatever they say to him, but it boils down to nobody's gonna wanna want free health care if they have to pay for it.

I think he's being polite. What Pinsky is saying is that Obama's constituents aren't gonna be able to figure out how to sign up online. If I translate that correctly, and I usually do understand these things, he's being polite. He's saying that Obama's constituents aren't gonna be able to figure it out.

The freeloaders better get hip to the Husseincare penalties REAL quick. Those that are 24 now will be 27 when the hefty $700 fine kicks in. A plus - they'll get popped for felony tax evasion if they fail to pay. And they'll need a good lawyer...

Medicaid isn’t really changing is it? Nobody on Medicaid is going to pay any “penalties”.

A felony conviction won’t stop those freeloaders from voting though...

Even though that is actually the law...

Freeloaders always want someone else to pay for it..the same Obama voters who claim they cant afford health care are the same ones every single year waiting for hours to get into the Apple store to buy the newest iPhone..sometimes they buy more than one iPhone..yet they claim they cant afford health care..that is your typical Obama voter

Nah, they’ll just go on Medicaid and deal drugs- that’s a lot safer.

This is certainly true.

The people who have a life-long tether to EBT cards and “free” comprehensive Medicaid will NOT accept having to pay anything!

In fairness, there is probably a good portion of the poor, that don't have the internet, and don't have a clue about computers.

PC World says 85% of Americans have internet. That leaves 15% out there that are probably the lower income and/or lower intellect groups that don't have internet. Expecting them to sign up online is like asking average Joe to work nuclear equations.

They’ll need a navigator to help them get signed up.

Then they’ll need defense and bankruptcy attorneys when the navigator steals their ID and ruins what credit they had left.

Understood (althought I have no idea what a nuclear equation is) but the larger point is Obamacare is supposed to be free and provide coverage to the small percentage of people who don’t have coverage.

In point of fact, most of those people who don’t have coverage choose not to otherwise they are certainly eligible for Medicaid. These people will not pay for their health care. I understand, and agree with, your point about computers, but these same people are NOT going to shell out any money for Obamacare. Besides, money they now would have to spend on Obamacare is marginally a high percentage of their government transfer payments. They won’t do it. So, Obamacare really won’t cover any of those not already covered by the safety net.

[Medicaid isn’t really changing is it? Nobody on Medicaid is going to pay any “penalties”.]

No, they are the bottom layer. In about half the states Medicaid is expanding to accommodate something like 14 million new patients. So the poor are no better off with ObamaCare and in many areas they will be worse off because a limited number of doctors and medical services—willing to treat Medicaid clients—will be stretched even farther.
Which will mean even more paupers crowding into emergency rooms.

Maybe Holder will sue the Obama Administration for requiring people to sign up for insurance. Clearly that’s a burden that minorities would disproportionately bear - with unreasonable restrictions on access to health care. Obvious discrimination.

I agree. Most of these same people either should be on medicaid or are just outside of the criteria to qualify. And they just can’t afford the premiums.

LOL the people he is talking about don't file tax returns and if they do its only to claim the earned income tax credit.

If they have any legit income they hide it. They have nothing the IRS wants to seize. They will not buy the insurance nor will they pay the fine.

What is the government going to do arrest them?

This entire law is based on the false premise that you can force freeloaders to pay which was laughable from the start.

The only way to get these people to pay would be to deduct it from their welfare card at the bargaining of the month.

Don't worry though I am sure you and I will cover to costs just like we do now.

A Gallup poll yesterday revealed that 69% of young adults (19 to 26) don’t even know they are mandated to buy health insurance or pay a fine.

And they’re supposed to be the most informed among us because of their use of social media.
