the way things are going the red states might as well leave the north east and west coast to themselves.

Bozo is acting like a little baby by closing down public monuments , graveyards etc, he;s looking to hurt as many people as possible and yet the GOP has said sign a bill and open these places and still the Democrats and Bozo are saying they don’t want any compromise and then the media runs with stories about how it is the GOP fault

Senator Roy Blunt, Republican of Missouri. “Fighting with the president and losing is another thing. When you’re in the minority you need to look really hard to find the fights you can win.”

Typical RINO defeatist horseshit of the nth order. If you are true to the wishes of your constituents why would you give a sh!t what the President thinks, UNLESS you are more clearly interested in the second-tier (loser) power the President and Democrats ALLOW you to have. Power, control, and money. That is apparently all you RINOs are interested in, BLUNT! I certainly hope the people of Missouri come to find out just exactly what kind of a traitor dirtbag you really are.

Since the number of people as of yesterday were in single digits... I doubt it.

You don’t sound contrary. You raise a reasonable point. The problem, as I see it, is simply one of how to unravel government deficit spending without blowing up the economy in the process. I don’t believe we can simply stop all deficit spending overnight without doing serious harm. Does that mean I oppose balancing the budget? No way! I want the budget balanced, but I think we’ll need to taper spending by careful reform of existing programs. Just shutting off the credit card without picking and choosing what needs to be cut seems like a good way to cause economic destruction.

Additionally, we have to accept that Republicans do not control the presidency or the Senate. It’s going to be very difficult if not impossible to work with this president. I don’t propose giving President Obama whatever he wants of course, but we simply aren’t going to be able to reform what we want until we have a new president and political majorities in both the House and Senate. That means compromise for the time being, but keep in mind that means the president and Harry Reid are going to have to bend, too!

A party that wants smaller, constitutional government, one that wants to reform unsustainable programs, that honors past promises but frees up younger generations to choose their own paths free from the government mandates of the past, one that believes in the rule of law? That’s a party, I think, that can win political majorities. Being anti-government in general, wanting to tear it all down now? That’s a good way to never win elections.

GOP "Elders"?

GOP Quislings is more like it.

What the Liberals are doing is giving these weak and insecure GOP media whores attention so they can attack their base and get invited to more Washington cocktail parties with their Liberal friends.

These are not guys you want in your foxhole. They'll either run at the first sign of gunfire or beg you to surrender. There is no hill they are willing to defend except their own skin.

None. That’s why the party is a complete mess. No solutions, no direction, and no principles.

And they are showing that it is at times like this...when no solutions and feeling like no direction....that one thing always matters ...principles.

I have a framed poster of a hiker with backpack crossing an iced over rope foot bridge. It says:

Courage of Integrity

The highest courage is to dare to be yourself in the face of adversity. Choosing right over wrong, ethics over convenience, and truth over popularity...these are the choices that measure your life. Travel the path of integrity without looking back, for there is never a wrong time to do the right thing.

Obama wants the USA to divide.

The best solution is to take over the whole country by de legitimizing the democrats and socialists.

I agree with you about the dangers of an abrubt end to spending overnight. It will have to be tapered down. But it must be done to avoid insolvency.

The House, having power of the purse, is constitutionally empowered to regulate spending. Although Republicans do not control the Senate and the presidency, they are still in a powerful postion and in their representative/fiduciary capacity owe it to the American people to not let spending get totally out of control to the point where it severely damages the nation and causes economic destruction.

The Republicans don’t have much credibility because they rarely stand up to defend their beliefs. They need to extract some type of concessions from the Democrats and I think they are in a good position to do this if they are resolute. Their message should be one of responsible government that is based on the same list of principles you cited.

A great statement and words to live by. Excellent post. Weakness and appeasement always take one down the proverbial slippery slope.

*Its just amazing how inept, clumsy and weak most of the Republican Party is.*

If Obamacare is not terminated I will be voting for a third party that is Conservative. I think a lot of others are like me.

I don't care what the third party's chances are, I'll do it in response to the Republicans snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

This is the GOP’s last chance.

Most of the Elders of the GOP no longer serve the interests of the People. The new TEA Party Republicans are by and large the only ones worth retaining.

The Elders of the GOP have become more useless than the fictional “Elders of the Internet”

I would like to ask Mr. Blunt when the GOP has ever drawn a line in the sand on obama for ANYTHING. All we have heard from this bunch is we can’t die on this hill, the next time will make our stand and the next time comes and then it’s we can’t win here we have to pick our fights, will make our stand on the next hill.

If the GOP were UN forces in Korea in July 1950 they maybe, possibly, depends etc... have made their stand against the North Korean army when it advanced into Antarctica!

I think the GOP knows this. They’ve run out of excuses. Its over for them if they cave.

But if they hold on and win, the pathetic, bed-wetting RINOs in the party will all be out front wanting to take credit. But we know who they are we will donate to defeat them.
