["visibly frustrated"] Obama willing to talk, but only after government open, debt ceiling raised
Washington Times ^ | October 8, 2013 | By Ben Wolfgang

President Obama on Tuesday expressed openness to large-scale discussions with Republicans on entitlements, taxes and a host of other hot-button issues.

He even offered to buy them dinner — but only after the government is reopened and the nation’s debt ceiling is raised.

In a rare appearance before reporters in the White House press room, a visibly frustrated Mr. Obama again called on House Speaker John Boehner to call a vote on a “clean” bill to reopen Washington.

"but we're scared that if we don't go along with the tea party agenda"

I thought the idea of a democracy is that the pols had to listen to us.

And since when was gerrymandering a republican idea?

Just once I wish a presstitute would point out the obvious to this freakin' pretender.

Speaker Boehner just told him they WILL talk.

He said that raising the debt ceiling cannot continue as it has.

Heard that before. First, raise the debt, and then we’ll talk. Riiight.

First, eliminate Education, EPA, USDA, and half of the cabinet-level agencies.

““I’m always willing to negotiate with people who have surrendered all of their leverage”.”

Obama’s attitude makes sense from his perspective. What if for your whole life somebody just passed you along, through schools and social situations...you never had to fight for something or work for something. Imagine how frustrating it must feel when suddenly you aren’t having things done for you and made to work out for you.

He has no idea how the game is played because he never had to play it. Worse, he’s unaware that he doesn’t know how it’s played. He thinks he’s the master. So he’s instructing the other side to lay down and let him win.

Obama’s speech (what I could stomach watching)reminded me of Caesars Chavez justifying his take over of the economy. He sounded like a dictator not an elected president. I fear that Obama will use the debt crisis to seize more unconstitutional powers in bypassing Congress. We could be seeing an end to our Republic. Sadly the GOP will likely cave in.

Obama’s sympathy for Republicans facing primaries is just, er, uh, umm, well, not playing well I guess. My message to the white-half of Obama: pound sand liar!

“I’ll talk about ways to improve the health care system. I’ll talk about ways we can shrink our long-term deficits. I’ll also want to talk about how we’re going to help the middle class and strengthen early childhood education and improve our infrastructure and blah blah blah...

Same recycled hot air. Only the saps still believe his tired jive.

Sadly the GOP will likely cave in.

I don't want to be too hard on this, but the more you say it the more it becomes an acceptable expectation. They will rationalize that if it is expected it won't be that bad when they do cave.

“but only after the government is reopened and the nation’s debt ceiling is raised”

translation - give me the means to keep spending as I have been snce 2009, by simply raising the debt limit, again, so again the heat is off to negotiate seriously, and I can delay serious negotiations ocnce again, until I create the next crisis demanding another raise in the debt OR ELSE!!!!!!!

When it comes Obama vs Boehner and the GOP in the Senate, they have become like the South Koreans and the U.S. in “negotiations” with North Korea - played for the rope-a-dope patsies that they are - the winning side (North Korea and Obama) create a crisis (his threats to default, instead of cutting discretionary spending) if he does not get a debt increase), threaten and bluster, and the losing side caves and appeases the victor. For five years now Obama and Reid have held up getting the nations budget business done until time for the next 11th hour crisis point and need for another raise in the debt limit (’cause they just want to keep spending as is (2009 budget and its automatic increases) and a debt limit increase is satisfactory for that objective).

Exactly! But who amongst the Republican Smart People will go on TV and just flat-out say this? The R's are their own worst enemy when it comes to being tricked like Lucy always yanks the football away from Charlie Brown...I'm still afraid Boehner or someone will start caving and once they do, the battle for hearts and minds will never be won. This is the first time they've actually taken a stand in many moons.
