S&P futures are now over 15 points off the day's highs, as it seems equity investors were hoping for a Cumbaya moment after the White House meeting today. However, as Bloomberg reports,

•*BOEHNER LEAVES OBAMA MEETING WITHOUT SPEAKING TO REPORTERS •*REPUBLICANS LEAVE WHITE HOUSE WITHOUT MAKING STATEMENT •*OBAMA REJECTS REPUBLICAN PROPOSAL FOR SHORT-TERM PLAN: NYT It would seem that Obama's "unconditional surrender or default" position has merely placed the pressure to act back on Boehner's shoulders.

There is no House power of the purse, we’ve sadly learned, not without the blessing of the Senate and the pen of the prez, and “proposing” has proven an empty gesture.

Talk about boxed in, we are certainly all that.

Did you happen to read the comments on that article? Sheesh I spent a good hour and some reading thru their arguements and statements.

It will give you a very good snapshot on how the Democrats are looking at this recent “talk” and they are squarely behind Obama and the Senate.....believing this is all the Republicans fault....and this with their explanations.

Not surprisingly ‘everything’ we’re complaining and saying and debating and arguing about them they are saying about us and Boehner and the Tea Party...it’s stunningly similar! They use the same language just supporting their side and blamming the other side.

However...One wrote the following which I agree with....As follows:

“The executive branch (Obama) does not authorize spending,
this is the legislative branch’s (Congress’s) responsibility. (Specifically the House).

The argument against our Federal debt and debt ceiling limits are ‘internal legislative branch conflicts’.

The President can ‘mediate’ differences ....But the President does work for the Congress, nor does the Congress work for the President.

It seems to me that the negotiations should be taking place between and among the Senate (Reid) and House (Boehner) leadership, ....not the White House.”

With that in mind How is it that Obama is constantly saying “I” will not negotiate when in fact his job is to mediate between them....not set the “redline” as he’s doing.

Yet the demorats keep saying they support Obama and that HE needs to stay strong and not bend. HE does not decide on these matters...Congress does....

If this whole mess has done me any good at all it’s gaining a wider understanding of not only how Gov. works but why it isn’t working. Obama steps out of his area of authority all the time. He clearly has no understanding of what his role is in this...which IS to “talk” and mediate between the two sides...Not stand as a dicktator!

Boehner wants to go over the cliff at 50 miles per hour and Obama wants to go over the cliff at 100 miles per hour.

What would any negotations or deal accomplish in the end?

An agreement to go over the cliff at 75 miles per hour....Nothing to cheer for or be excited about.

One party wants to drive us towards disaster at 100 miles per hour and the other wants to do the same at 50 miles per hour.

Either way we are headed for a trainwreck whether its the Democrat Socialist route or the Republican Slocialist route.

What is there to get all dramatic about?????????

had a chance of winning because they had zero leverage, they just lost the House in 2014. GOP is truly the Stupid Party.

What a sniveling, weak comment. With supporters like you no wonder the pubbies have no backbone.

According to Jeb Hensarling on Fox last night. He didn’t reject or accept it. The New York Times is trying to push the President into a position.

Obama thinks this is a game, and he thinks he’s winning. Boehner needs to put on the suspenders and unroll the belt.

“...Wanna piss Zer0 off? DO NOTHING!...”

Exactly!!! He is the won that said that he refused to negotiate. I would give him EXACTLY what he demanded. NO negotiation. I wouldn’t let a single Pubbie go near the WH either. He can come to the Capitol to grovel and beg. Let him draw his “red line” and draw it several times before even talking to this communist POS.

“At least it just shows Obunghole keeps saying No.”

Yeah, I’m beginning to wonder if BOEHNER lined this up for that. Either he’s brilliant or a gutless wonder. Both maybe? Or is he now cured of ‘consultant-itis’? Just wishful ‘stinking I on my part most likely.

Yes, Obummer has a monumental ego, but he is also very, very lazy.

I wish I could walk in his shoes for a day. The internal conflicts must be overwhelming.

Reality must be hard for you.
Step outside of the echo chamber. Study history. Study the path of those like Churchill.
