House Republican leaders are waiting to hear back from the White House after GOP staff sent over an informal proposal Thursday night that would raise the debt ceiling and create a process for reopening the government.
Aides say President Barack Obama and Republicans are haggling over a deal that would lead to an end to the two-week-old government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling in exchange for a clear path to serious negotiations about spending and other fiscal issues.
-snip-
many Republicans are expected to still vote against such a deal.
GOP leaders will likely need some Democratic votes to get passage of the short-term measure or measures.

He will need to violate the Hastert rule. If Boehner does this then he is finished as Speaker.
So furious I can hardly see to type.
It'll be no different than any other year of the obumble's administration.
The mulatto bastard (but I repeat mysef) must be stopped and NO !
Teh Rat Bastard only has another month of this years caladar anyhow. If he isn’t running in 14 I am sure at this point he just wants to be left alone with a crying towel and a fifth of Booze.

Yeah, boy, that’s the ticket. Soetoro has a real credible record on those kinds of promises. Ditch the ObummerCare defunding effort and trying to control the growth of the debt. Cave. Fold. Give Soetoro whatever he wants. Then he’ll discuss these issues. The establishment GOP model of negotiating.
Caving in to the dictator just empowers him more. This country is doomed!
I don’t know why Boehner doesn’t see that every time he offers something to Obama, Obama just sees him as weak and losing. If Boehner is trying to make it look like he is reasonable to the media, he is wasting his time — he just looks weak and fosters the propaganda that it is the Repubs that are at fault and are now looking for a way out. He has to be the weakest and poorest communicating Speaker we’ve had in a long time.
Boehner has been looking for any reason, any way to screw the Conservatives.
Along with many, many others here, I have been waiting for this shoe to drop for 10 or so days. I’m not surprised or shocked but that does not lessen my disgust.

Actually, Beohner is running in 2014. He will not run again for Speaker in the next congress.
Where is Ted Cruz on all of this? I haven’t heard anything from him for several days. Has he permitted himself to be muzzled by McConnell & Co? I hope not; otherwise we are lost. Cruz needs to speak out at least daily.
The Dems should demand that the republicans agree to name Nancy Piglosi speaker again.
Agree completely..which is why this story makes no sense...unless Boehner and Cantor both have a death wish
Bohner can't surrender like it's being reported. If he surrenders the Tea Party base of the Pub party just won't vote for Pubs in elections again.
I think that reid not being involved in any discussions indicates the Rats are folding not the Pubs.
Cruz is actually with McConnell and the rest of the Senate GOP meeting with Obama right now.
Boner is laying the groundwork for passing Amnesty and then retiring from Congress to become a lobbyist.
Amnesty is next.
