Washington is talking.
At the end of the 11th day of a government shutdown, Republicans and Democrats are trying to figure out a way to filling federal coffers and lifting the debt ceiling.
Theyre hitting a few bumps along the way.
President Barack Obama told Speaker John Boehner he wasnt prepared to accept the House Republican fiscal plan but said they should continue talks about a framework to reopen government, increase the nations borrowing limit for six months and start budget talks.
At the same time, Obama signaled openness to a Senate Republican plan penned by Maine Sen. Susan Collins to reopen the government, delay Obamacares tax on medical devices and raise the debt ceiling. Obama told GOP senators at a White House meeting Friday that the tax was not core to the health care law. Its not clear if changing the tax would be enough to satiate House Republicans appetite to cut away at the Affordable Care Act.
Were on our way now to dealing with this issue, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said after the White House meeting
POLITICO bring such an open propaganda organ of the Democrat Party- of it’s most far left wing if such could be delineated...
http://blogs.rollcall.com/218/?pos=oblo”Updated 6:19 p.m. | The White House pushed strongly late Friday for a longer-term extension of the debt limit than House Republicans have offered as they continue to negotiate a deal that would reopen the government...”
Sounds like we’ll get the six week debt extension without dropping the CR/Obamacare fight.
Good for us IMO.
Obama and Reid would like longer but Boehner will have all he can do to get enough conservatives to even support six weeks.
Going well, IMO.
If they cave on Obamacare the fight is over. Obama will get everything he wants and more.
Susan Collins is full of crap. She is willing to give in to Obamacare if Obama drops his medical device tax.
That’s like selling out for a nickel when we could have gotten a million dollars.
Funny how quick the cave happened. This is very sad. The GOP has surrendered and they will never win anything again. I know that I will not waste my time on a trip to the polls to vote for professional losers.
Dealing with the devil, he will renigg in some way. Just hope it isnt a manufactured disaster!
No Mercy. Hit the phones,Faxes and emails. Cut off all money to these bastards. This is unreal—SUSAN COLLINS?? CORKER ?? Total capitulation. this is boing to be a dark day for our party!!!
When I see the Cork say we are “on the way” that spells
T R O U B L E for me.
I strongly suspect Susan wants a deal that will cost McConnell his election so she can become the first female Minority Leader of the Senate.
I really do. Her plan is pure poison.
These people make me sick. It makes me proud that I made up my mind to never vote for them.
And, the fact that the liberals are going to be crying for the rest of their lives when they find out their “wealth” got spread around a little more than they thought it would.
They’re also granting obama the power to change any law he doesn’t like. As far as I’m concerned, congress is no longer relevant.
The sun started setting on this country in 2008. It’s almost to total darkness.
I agree. We no longer have Checks and balances.
Congress has given up it’s duties because of fear of the political consequences of stopping this Half Negro.
They have made him a de-facto Dick-tator.
It’s certainly perplexing to see Boehner acting like a leader and just flabbergasting not to see the Senate Republicans fold.
No one pinch themselves please!
My God man don’t even think of Susan Collins as Minority leader.
If anything she should get Harry Reids job as Democrat majority leader.
She is no more a Republican than Nancy Pelosi is.
Collins is working hand in glove with Harry Reid. I wouldn’t doubt that this idea of hers didn’t come directly from Harry’s desk.
See my post 14.
That's racist!
I hope Boehner is prepared for retirement.
Well, it is time to restart the federal government. The shutdown is absolutely killing the GOP.
Here in Washington DC, the local economy is taking a needless hit. Time to restore things.
she voted for cloture on obamacare.
Yes: She isn’t worth spit to the Republican party.
A lot of Northeastern politicians aren’t.
