roughing up a dui is a lot safer than a drunk driver at the wheel of a vehicle

Yes drunk drivers should be held liable for murder when they kill someone but a tyrannical government is far more dangerous.

I, too, am all for horrific beatings of people who have not been convicted of a crime, whether they resist, or especially if they are compliant. NO act of physical barbarism is too great against those who are merely accused! Why, we should employ long torture sessions to people accused but not convicted of crimes! Make them walk through the Valley of Pain! Burn their flesh! Throw corrosive chemicals on them! If they have been accused, THEY MUST BE HORRIBLY TORTURED! KILL THEM! *KILL* *THEM*!!!!!1!!

The drunk driver was asleep by the side of the road. She was probably not going to crash into anybody.

Police always have choices and while yours might sound good in theory, IMO the officer made the wrong choice this time. Woman asleep in her car, found to have been drinking; Take her keys, take her license away from her, send her away for treatment for 90 days, make sure her auto insurance carrier knows of the charges and then put a device on her car to prevent her driving in the future if she’s had anything to drink. But throw her in a cell like this? No way - nobody learned anything, she’s going to get a boat load of money from the city. Cop should be fired.

Breaking her face seems reasonable to you for sleeping in a parked car?

Seriously? She was sleeping in the car, not driving.
