I doubt these people have any kind of understanding of the constitution and what America stands for. It's not: let the government do what it will, but don't let the government do anything you can do for yourself. Once they understand that basic principle, they're on the road to conservatism.

I have always maintained that liberals will tell you what they are really thinking, you only have to listen long enough. Like Dr. Strangelove's who cannot keep their arms from involuntarily raising in nazi salutes, what comes out of their mouths gives you a picture into their minds.
They believe their own BS. So, thirty years ago, what kind of values were considered "right" that are now "center-left"?
The concept that having children out of wedlock is a bad thing, and that single motherhood is, all things considered equally, worse for a child than a mother and a father in a home? You are a far right winger today if you believe that.
The concept that homosexuality is abnormal, and having two mommies or two daddies damages children? Oh, yeah, you are "center-left" today if you believe that.
I could list dozens of more examples, but the bottom line is, this is an example of why liberalism has become more pervasive. Liberalism is a one-way ratchet, and they plant their flag on every inch of conservative ground they claim, and declare that to be part of the "new normal".
In reality, what was once considered right is now considered EXTREME right.
One conservative commenter is trying to make that point to them. In typical lib fashion they completely misunderstand or ignore the point he's trying to make. In lib "logic," if someone accesses information different from the usual lib sources, they are being "brainwashed." They urge conservatives to listen to different viewpoints completely not comprehending that most conservatives are people who've had to forcibly listen to lib propaganda their entire lives.
Listening to Rush or other conservative talk show hosts is like being let out of intellectual prison for many people. In my case, many years ago, it was listening to W.F. Buckley's "Firing Line" that played a part in gradually making me a true conservative.
It's both amusing and irritating to listen to our brainwashed lib brethren rant and rave about conservative "brainwashing." The past masters of brainwashing will always be from the left side of the political spectrum.
