Time to prescribe single-payer health insurance
Oregon Live ^ | October 13, 2013 | Amy Goodman

"We apologize for the inconvenience. The Marketplace is currently undergoing regularly scheduled maintenance and will be back up Monday 10/7/3013." You read it right, 3013. That was the message on the homepage of the New York state health insurance exchange website this past weekend.

Yes, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), popularly known as Obamacare, is going through difficult birth pains, as the marketplace websites went live only to crash. The government is not giving out numbers, but informed observers speculate that very few people have succeeded in signing up for any of the plans so far.

--snip--

So, while partisan bickering (between members of Congress who have among the best health and benefits packages in the U.S.) has shut down the government, the populace of the United States is still straitjacketed into a system of expensive, for-profit health insurance. We pay twice as much per capita as other industrialized countries, and have poorer health and lower life expectancy.

The economic logic of single-payer is inescapable. Whether Obamacare is a pathway to get there is uncertain. As Dr. Woolhandler summed up, "It's only a road to single-payer if we fight for single-payer."

As I figured, ObamaCare was supposed to be a giant cluster-you-know-what, in order to gain support for single-payer.

Sign up on the Obamacare Website or over the phone and an unborn child can be killed just for you. Aren't we happy for the "Abortion Surcharge" in Obamacare?

I'm sure Congressman Stupak is.

Vermont wants to do Single Payer. I say, let ‘em. They’ll be broke inside of two years. Will be a powerful lesson to all the rest of us. Better with a small, relatively insignificant state (Sorry, Vermont FReepers....both of you)

This guy has it backwards. The prescription should be to get rid of insurance companies and have everyone private pay for their health. The reason costs are so high is because hospitals charge private pay what the insurance companies pay. Remove the insurance companies and you will remove the high costs - it costs 2 cents or less for a paper cup but the hospitals charge $12 because they CAN.

The payer gets to decide what healthcare you get
The decision about what treatment you are allowed to have will be made by govt bureaucrats who are NOT doctors and who award bonuses to compliant clerks who hold down costs
Think of the warmth and compassison of Kathleen Sebelius with an army of TSA-like drone gatekeeper
The healthcare providers will be govt employees or contractors. You think barry-cades of monuments by co-opted NPS ranger order to punish people are bad, if democrats don't get their tax demands
You will wait in line to be seen. Trying to get an appointment will be like trying to get into the obamacare web site
A clerk will decide if you are sick enough to move up the line
A govt clerk will decide if your prescription gets refilled, or if you get the drug the doctor ordered - or something cheaper

Let’s all go to Canada or the UK when we have cancer or a heart attack -

Soon the assigned primary physician from Nigeria will send you to a specialist

Thirteen weeks later the specialist from Egypt’s secrretary will call your widow and tell her have an appointment for the next day.....

Surprise, surprise. /s

It's time for a 'Put It Back The Way It Was' campaign. Free-market health care and a return to 'insurance' is the only Constitutional method of health care in America.

0bamacare was designed to transform into single payer, but it's more likely the people will revolt against any government involvement in health care, given the disaster of the 0'care website.

What the majority don’t realize is that we already have single-payor in the United States. Low income have Medicaid and seniors have Medicare...they are both a single-payor model. They both cost exponentially more now than they were ever projected to cost.

Single payer... the communist party paying all bills by confiscating all wealth and opening gulags for those that disagree.

She turned off her comments LOL.

They can’t get THIS POS right so now they want what Americans overwhelmingly said NO to. The resistance to Obamacare was about 60-70%. The resistance to single-payer was closer to 90% when the idiots were suggesting we go that route.

Sorry whackobird libtards. If you can’t get this train wreck going, we’re not giving you a second option that’s even worse.

That’s why truly nobody had to read the bill, it didn’t matter what was in it, it was just a step to the ultimate goal.
